Knock-knock... and it shall be opened unto you
— A new game by Ice-Pick Lodge development studio has successfully met its first funding goal. This is the first such case in Russian game industry...
Today on August 30th 2012, 12:41 AM Moscow time, we reached the funding value required to complete the game. We’ve decided to develop this game without a publisher, counting solely on our capabilities and community support. Being risky for us, this is also an opportunity to create the game exactly as we see it and to distribute it as we deem right. For instance, we will send a free copy to everyone who donates at least $5 no later than September 11th.
Right now we can conclude that risk was justified. There are almost two weeks left before the deadline, and we keep guessing how much will be acquired in total. Kickstarter doesn’t allow an untimely completion of a project.
Isn’t $30.000 insufficient to develop a game?
Of course it’s not the whole our budget, and not even a half. We lacked this sum for full independence during the development period.
We are very glad to see your active support. It is a pleasure to know that players do have a choice even in the world where large corporations manage the industry’s destiny. By cooperating, players can support unconventional games. We foresee a bright future for crowd-funding projects.
- Does it still make sense to pledge more?
Sure! It’s an opportunity to get the game for half of its final price. And it will allow us to develop some additional features we’ve already told you about. Of course it does make sense.
Thank you all for your support!
