Have a question?
did... anybody ever find out what the surrogates *do*?
Even thou backed it this project for $5 got it again on Gog as it had it on flash special for just $2.*)
So the game is released? How do I play it?
I just came to check on here after seeing the GOG release, thanks for the reply, I look forward to a DRM free copy. I still have to admit it's a pity that this Kickstarter hasn't followed what so many others did and gave the backers both a Steam key AND a DRM release (in fact Strike Force Zero also gave the backers a GOG key too, but just the two previous cover all bases, giving us things like Steam achievements to play with now but knowing we have a DRM copy for future use)
@Chris and all the backers who want a DRM-free version.
Yes, that's what we were going to do! We would upload it today, but we'd better supply you with an upgraded one, with joystick support and with some bugs fixed. We'll do it pretty soon and you'll be able to download it via the link in your letter (the one you've received on release).
As soon as we finish and upload it, we'll make a special update. )
Kelvin & others - I see the game is now on GoG at http://www.gog.com/game/knock_knock - so a DRM-free version exists.
Perhaps if you ask nicely it may be possible to get a GoG.com key from the developers? Just a thought. Or maybe we can all get one :)
@Brian--the premium is including with the download, it's apparently a separate application along with an installer key. I have yet to install it since they recommend not playing it until you finish Knock Knock a few times.
What "premium" did my $47 pledge get me?
Please mail us to email@example.com - and we'll fix the problem.
Also, try checking your Spam folder. The letter could end up there.
I backed the game, but I haven't received any email about a key or download. Where can I find the game?
If I had realised the installer had DRM I would have preferred a Steam key instead, so I am a bit disappointed by that. Most other kickstarters offer both to users, so we have a DRM copy for the future and a Steam copy to play now.
Great game so far :) Spooky.
Dear Ice-Pick Lodge!
My email was in the spam folder of the email address which I use for kickstarter and not the one I left in the survey. Everything is now all good for me, and congratulations on the release! Looking forward to your next project, as always.
In case of any technical problems with the mails (whoever still hasn't received it), activations and launch, we kindly ask you to mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. This is the fastest way to solve your problem.
If anybody has a problem with his/hers Steam activation key, make sure that this is a Steam key! If your mail contains the links to PC/Mac/linux versions, it means that you ordered DL-installer which is activated by the key you've got.
Hi Ice Pick,
I got my key, but it's invalid. Gmail also forced it to the spam folder, but I saved it. Sad panda.
This game has been wonderful so far. Thank you for this!
Everybody should remember to check their spam-folders, that's where my key ended up :)
And... really? In a game which auto-saves into the only save slot there is? Wow.
Well.. worth 5 bux. *uninstalling*.
I've been having the same problem, so I checked the steam community hub(watch out for screenshot spoilers) and found out that the white lightning like bar that appears at the top of the screen, is actually a timer, and if it runs out, you'll always end up with the game over ending screen. So the only way to get past it is to start all over with a new game and win before it runs out.
It's October 5th, and right now I'd be happy with any kind of email. :P
Is the registration code for the download game supposed to be the Steam key too, as that is the only thing that looks remotely like a Steam key in my email and it doesn't work on Steam yet is fine with the download copy? (Although having DRM for that seemed a little odd as all previous Ice-Pick Lodge games have been avaialable DRM Free eventually)
Still waiting on my email with Steam key.
Well, I'm stuck: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bwyt29MkBWbPVHg5LTFCYUZSeHc
I also tried with turned off lights in all rooms and still die.
In the spiral "map" I'm before the last point (the opening door) I think.
Pat: That's being sarcastic. Sorry, I assumed wrongly with irony. In any case, you said something about moaning, which isn't the case here I think. It is just stating facts.
Now, that's one freaky... whatever it is. I think I'm in level 3 now, and I sometimes keep dying or something like this. Will continue to explore.
Look, I'm telephato-lamp-fixer:
(Yes, this is so in every room)
Irony: The use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning.
Seems I used irony correctly to me.
Got my steamkey and downloading now. This is a minor gripe, but I thought we were also supposed to receive a "do's" and don'ts" of the game.
ThomasN - I was about to post the same thing. Having not had any access to Beta or nearly-complete versions, a link to a direct download yesterday would have been all it took to get a more positive reaction from those of us who have become ever more tired of the silences, punctuated by promised and excuses.
Ice-Pick Lodge: Well.... your excuse fails ("HAD"), because you could just send a different mail with the link to the non-steam version in it earlier.
Pat Ashe: I guess you wanted to do irony but failed miserably.
Dear backers who required Steam versions!
Your letters are supplied with Steam keys. They are being actively sent right now. You should receive them in the nearest time. We HAD to start Steam page before the sending so that you could activate your version right on receiving the mail...
Good to see the moaning continues.
As predicted, everyone can buy a copy on Steam right now, yet the backers are waiting for their game.
The game is out in Steam!
Waiting for keys from Kickstarter...
So it is a year since funding was raised, 7 months since I returned the survey, yet we have had zero exclusive content or information in that time, and the press/Steam/YouTube seems to be a better place to find out about the project than Kickstarter.
At this rate it will be like another Ouya launch, with us waiting for Steam keys whilst the public are able to buy & play the title before us...
People are saying it's coming on Oct. 4 (according to an interview, purportedly).
Come to Kickstarter, they said. Follow creativity, they said. Here I feel just like with EA, following what the press writes.
Jim Rossignol wrote an "Impressions" article over at RPS:
Nice to hear that this game has left quite a good one :)
That's interesting indeed. Considering they explained in a past update that they have built several different builds (and not simply "iterations" I believe, though I might be wrong) and have changed the fundamentals several times, I am a little surprised to see that the game in this last video looks quite the same as in the original pitch video but of course, not knowing how the game plays, looks can be deceiving.
Apparently, Ice Pick lodge strongly feel the need to not inform us that this video is out:
The game that hasnt got Our, and never will
Any good news on the horizon? September is half over, we going to see some sort of release date?
So no more updates from you guys mean the game is coming like really soon, right, right?
So you don't have to have a game to get "greenlit" ?
And the first year is passed...
We greenlit now
At long last my biggest concern has been alleviated, that this game might not get through that damn Greenlight business. Great news indeed!
Congratulations on getting Greenlit!
GG for the greenlight :D :D :D
Wooo, Knock Knock was Greenlit today!
