Welcome to our Kickstarter page. This project will help fund the costs of a start-up crêpe stand to serve downtown Bloomington, IN.
We hope that Crimson Crêpes will become a popular and delicious location where college students and locals can grab a fast and inexpensive bite to eat. With our low-cost sweet and savory menu items, we are here more for you than us.
In fact, the idea to bring a crêpe stand to Bloomington came while eating crêpes. As we sat here we wondered, "how can such a great food be, in large, absent from such a diverse city?" That is why we want to make this wildly popular French cuisine readily available in Bloomington.
What exactly will we be serving? Well, crêpes are interesting in that they can come with such a variety of fillings and flavors. We will be serving from savory to sweet, and here is just a hint of what our menu will contain...
Ham and Cheese
Spinach, Cheese, Mushrooms
Chicken, Asparagus, Mushrooms, Cream Sauce
Nutella and Banana, filled with Home-Made Whipped Cream
Fresh Strawberries with Home-Made Chocolate Cream
Ice Cream topped with Fresh Fruit, Drizzle of Chocolate Syrup
We are planning on traveling to many different locations around Bloomington. We will frequently be located on the square, Kirkwood, outside the public library, and at sporting events.
We predict that if we obtain the necessary funds by the end of the fundraising on July 25th, we can get the business rolling by the end of August. Obtaining the licenses are mostly a matter of paperwork and shouldn't take more than two weeks. Our main activity will be constructing the cart, but with intensive working we expect it to be done by mid August.
We know that if we raise $1000 it won't cover all of our costs. However, if we can at least reach this goal then adding in our own money will be able to get us up and running. If we can surpass the goal, then it will make our life easier by making it so we don't have to reach so deeply into our own pockets. We also would be able to purchase higher quality, more efficient equipment that would allow us to make the crêpes in the best way possible.

Risks and challenges
We believe that our cost-effective crêpes will be very well received by the people of Bloomington. Currently there are seven other food stands that make appearances throughout the week. However, this is a unique food stand that appeals to a different market of consumers than our competitors and also an overlapping one. Our largest challenges are obtaining the necessary permits and licenses.
Here is a list of permits and how we will obtain them:
The Food Handler Certification will be easy to obtain with a 95% success rate on the test. We will take the course online and then go in for a test.
In our discussion with the lead representative from the Monroe County Health Department, our plan is told that it meets all requirements for the plan review.
The Commissary agreement is a necessary agreement where we have a licensed restaurant take care of our cart. We have already contacted One World and they have agreed to work with us if we open our business.
The Mobile Permit, Registering as an LLC, Insurance, and Commissary Rent are all fees that we will need to paid. Filling out the paperwork is all that is necessary.
These are relatively low risks, and we consider ourselves as a very potentially successful business.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
