Future Boyfriend is a short comedy about a couple, Kylie and Stuart, on their third date. Everything is going well until Stuart informs Kylie that he's from the future and has traveled 60 years into the past just to date her. Why? Because in his time, she's a resident at the nursing home he works at.

Hilarity ensues.

***UPDATE: STRETCH GOAL!!***

As of Thursday the 25th, "Future Boyfriend" has reached is goal of $10,000!! We are so grateful to everyone who donated and cannot wait to get this thing started. We have set a stretch goal of $15,000, which will help us fund better special effects, color correction, film festival submissions and more. We've already made this thing happen- let's see if we can make it even better!

THE BEGINNING

"Future Boyfriend," a play written by A. Vincent Ularich, playwright and owner of "The Science Fiction Theatre Company" (http://sciencefictiontheatrecompany.com) in Boston, was accepted to the first annual science fiction play festival in Los Angeles called "SCI-Fest," this past spring.

SCI-Fest was a Kickstarter-funded project, raising over $80,000 with 400 backers. Folks like Armin Shimmerman ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), Tim Russ ("Star Trek: Voyager"), David Dean Bottrell ("True Blood"), Jaskia Nicole ("Fringe"), Dan Castellaneta ("The Simpsons"), Nelson Lesmo ("The Hunger Games: Catching Fire") and many, many other talented actors, artists, writers, producers, stage manger (there was only one, Heidi Hostetler, and she was a Goddess of the theater), prop masters, etc that participated in the festival.

So as you can imagine Ron Morehouse, Emily Bell, and Dominic Mora were pretty stoked when asked to play the roles of Stuart, Kylie, and the Waiter in the 14 minute comedy, "Future Boyfriend." And as if this wasn't cool enough, their director was Meagen Fay ("The Carol Burnett Show," "Roseanne," "3rd Rock from the Sun," "The Mentalist," and on and on)!

THE MIDDLE

Ron, Emily, and Dominic quickly became friends and had a blast doing the play. Soon after opening night, people started to comment on what a great concept for a tv series or film the show would be, and thus the idea to shoot it as a short comedic film was born.

It didn't take long for director Ben Rock to come on board as the project's director for the film. Ben is an accomplished director, having worked on numerous independent films, webseries and commercials. A sample of his work can be seen here: www.benrockonline.com

And when Ron and Emily announced they were going to launch a Kickstarter, folks came forward to offer a helping hand. Robert Nikolakakis (robniko.com), for example, generously agreed to help give the project a unique reward for those donating $35 or more. Using his expertise in digital aging effects, Rob will age a person to look 90 years old in any photo they provide.

THE END

Ron and Emily have big plans for this film, with goals of submitting it to over 20 film festivals like "Funny or Die," "Sundance," and "Burbank International Film Festival," just to name a few.

Most of the puzzle pieces are already coming together, all that's left is to raise the money!

Here's where it will go:

Camera (RED Epic) and insurance: $1,200

Location (two days filming in a Restaurant): $1,250

Crew: $2,500

Food (gotta feed our crew!): $500

Festival Submissions (each submission fee is approximately $70-100): $2,000

Kickstarter Fees, Amazon Fees: $1,000

Taxes: $600

Posters & other Kickstarter rewards: $200

Miscellaneous (Parking fees, unforeseen expenses, emergency fund): $750

Risks and challenges

The biggest challenge facing us right now is time. The camera we have pinned for the project will be in use for a month starting August 15th, and our producer will be leaving the city on August 13th, so we've opted to hold a 20 day Kickstarter campaign as opposed to a 30 day campaign in order to meet a shooting goal of August 11th and 12th.

Like any other film there are obstacles that may arise, like scheduling issues, location issues, etc. Fortunately, we have professionals on board that are equipped with years of experience and knowledge about how to deal with pretty much anything. Everyone from the director, producer, actors and crew have a working knowledge about the business of show business, and we feel confident that any and all issues will be dealt with as needed.

In the meantime, the budget has been carefully put together with room for last-minute expenses and emergencies. And, because this will be a two-day shoot in the same location, factors such as weather and daylight will not be a problem.
