A self-funded, student driven production of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible", examining the dangers of unquestioned power. Dec. 6,7,8
We live in a society that is quick to judge and slow to forgive, one that undervalues honesty and the integrity of one's name. Through the story of "The Crucible", PHS students are able to examine the dangers of these beliefs, as well as the consequences hidden in unquestioned power and blind following. By presenting this play, we hope to create a dialogue in the community as well as establish ourselves as a dedicated group of theater artists.
This production is student centered and student driven. Students are in charge of the costumes, lights, sound, set, publicity, acting, and stage managing. We are off to a great start with rehearsals, but need your help to complete the world of the play.
Donations will be used to create the set, programs, posters, costumes and all the details that go into producing a show. This is the first official production put on by this completely self-funded group of students. All proceeds from the production will go directly back to the club to help fund future events and productions, helping to create a theater troupe driven by social awareness and change.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There are 26 teenagers involved in this project and 2 adults. We work to maintain a central vision and objective, and delegate equally amongst the team. However, any time there are this many people, let alone teenagers, involved in anything there is a risk of someone dropping the ball, forgetting to complete something, not being as motivated, or just failing to show up. There are a lot of steps that have to be completed in this process, so I meet daily with the student leaders of each team to check on progress. I meet regularly with my co-worker to share responsibilities, and I communicate daily with the entire club via our website. With continued communication, these students learn to collaborate and share, creating the best possible product.
