concrete city magazine is the brain child of three servers in Kansas City: Sara Alvord, Lauren Briley and Jen Ross. The entire magazine is from our point of view, and is focused around an “inside look” into the restaurant scene in KC. Some of our articles include awesome restaurant architecture, kickass chefs, hand-crafted cocktails only available in KC, the best happy hours, and TONS more. We feel that the most “popular” local publications right now are way too saturated with advertisements, and honestly kinda boring to look at / read. That’s where we come in: Sara writes and edits, Lauren shoots our photos, and Jen designs the layouts for each issue...and we promise it's way better than anything currently distributed in our city.
We’ve been putting concrete city magazine together since August 2011, and we’re finally ready to start printing. This is where kickstarter comes in. The first issue will be available in print (4,000 copies distributed -fo free!- throughout the metro), and will also be available online. Our kickstarter goal of $3,300 is simply to cover the costs of printing and shipping for our first issue. We hope to generate enough money through advertising to support our future issues, but will personally support them until that point comes.
We will be printing every other month to start off, but we really REALLY want to start having a new issue every month as soon as we are in a position to do so.
Any support is GREATLY appreciated, and we’re really just glad you were interested enough to read our story! We can’t wait to bring you our view of KC via concrete city magazine, and we know you’ll dig it. :)
