So here we are. We've been bandying about how to release our first full length album for awhile now and have finally decided we might as well throw all our eggs in in to one absurdly clichéd mixed metaphor basket and go all out. So we're doing it on vinyl. The filthy noises we create will be beautifully packaged, so even if we don't sell any I can wallpaper my spare room with the left over copies and be happy with the results.
Now obviously, the meagre £150 we are asking for is not going to get the album recorded, mixed, mastered, pressed and distributed. What it will do is get the ball rolling (as well as boosting our fragile artistic egos of course).
Here is the plan:
The album, 'Almost Everyone is Entirely Average at Almost Everything' a frothing, satirical monster (with surprisingly supple legs and a winning smile) is nearly written. We'll be recording it as soon as we can confirm studio dates. We will be releasing it on Ltd Ed Heavyweight Vinyl (as well as download) as soon as is humanly possible (circa April 2014). In addition we have a whole sackful of extra stuff for those of you with enough foresight and grandiosity to support us in the early stages:
We will be recording an exclusive 12 track (setlist to be furiously squabbled about behind closed doors) live session at the fabulous Musicbox in Cardiff, which will be available only to those who back this campaign.
In addition we are in the process of putting together another exclusive download of a host of old material that we have not released properly including studio tracks and live demos and suchlike (there will be at least 25 tracks of vastly varying quality) that will comprise the compilation 'Well, Well, Well, Well, Well, Well' that will be made available to backers very shortly after the campaign ends.
There will also be T-Shirts and Screenprints and various other sundries (full details on the rewards page) to suit any budget.
We've tried to keep the prices of all of the rewards as low as humanly possible (it is with acidic disgruntlement that we have to charge so much for international shipping) because as always we are not trying to make a fortune out of this project, just to get within spitting distance of breaking even will be quite the source of pride for us.
We will keep you lovely people updated every step of the way. As always thanks from the bottom of our blackened, tumorous souls for your support.
Risks and challenges
Risks eh? There are a couple. We could all be eaten by Wolves, but in Southend that is improbable(note: Not impossible). More likely is that fuel poverty will kick in, and I will have to use Matt as kindling to light a fire on which to roast Heinz in order to get through the winter. If this happens I will need to step up my cloning programme and /or build a functioning time machine. Apart from that risks are minimal. This album is getting made come Hell or high water.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
