"Welcome to a colorful world inhabited by the most marvelous monsters!"
Big monster takes you to an unknown and exuberant planet, where you will discover strange monsters and rare crystals, but also compete with other explorers to fulfill various missions.
Each turn, players pick a tile from their hand and connect it to their planet area symbolizing the discovery of the planet. Then each player has to quickly assign the remaining tiles to another player of his choice – choosing either to help his partner, or hinder an opponent.
This innovative draft playing creates a lot of interaction between the players and asks them to face some difficult choices.
Fun, tactic, with simple rules and easy to play, Big Monster is a game for family but also expert players. With three game modes (individual, team or 2 players) and no language dependency, you will spend many hours collecting our colorful and friendly monsters.
Big Monster is a smart draft and tile laying boardgame with a lot of interaction !
After picking a tile from his or her hand, each player quickly assigns the remaining tiles to another player of their choice – choosing either to help his/her partner, or hinder an opponent.
At the end of the game, the player with the most victory points wins, but in team mode, ONLY the lowest score in each team is kept as that team’s final score. The team with the highest lower score wins the game.
At a signal from a player, everyone grabs the hand of tiles currently on his/her ship and looks at them. After choosing one that the player places, face down, in front of him, that player must immediately put the remaining tiles on another player’s ship (partner or opponent) – on the condition that the spot is still free.
A player cannot put his/her tiles on his/her own ship, unless that player is the slowest to choose a tile and his/her ship is the only available spot left.
Once all the players have assigned their hand to another player by placing it on an opponent or teammate ship, all players turn over the tile they’ve selected and place it in their exploration zone.
A few rules must be followed:
Then, grab your new deck and play a new turn.
Each monster tile will give you some points in different ways.
The mutant monsters mutate when they are directly connected to the laser icon of a mutagenic monster. A mutated monster will give you more points.
These huge monsters are divided into two tiles, one for the head and another for the tail. Each one gives you 1 point separately. But if you manage to put both parts of the Big Monster together it will give you 11 points.
If you manage to recreated full crystals, you will win 2, 5 or 10 points for each one of them.
There are 5 swamp toads in the game. The more of these monsters you gather, the more points you will get from them.
All of them have a special ability that gives you points according to what you explored so far.
They don’t give you points immediately, however some of them have crystals shards, and are useful to achieve missions.
During the game, you can earn medals. To earn an individual medal, a player must meet the requirements by himself, using only the tiles placed in front of him.
To earn a team medal, the discoveries (placed monster tiles) of both partners are added up. Each team member receives a medal, regardless of his actual contribution.
Most of the medals will give you 5 points, except for the desert monsters medal which is worth 10 points. At the end of the game, a penalty medal of minus 10 points is given to the players whose total of ‘desert’ and ‘rune’ monsters is the lowest.
During the setup, each player chooses between two explorer tiles. He/she places one of them face up. These explorer tiles give a special ability during the whole game.
The explorer tile that has not been chosen by the players will be placed ship side up near the central board. These face down explorer tiles will be used to assign a hand of tiles during the drafting phase.

Please note that these rules are still "work in progress" and may evolve (both in form and content) until the final release.

Risks and challenges
The goal of the Kickstarter is to make the Big Monster game accessible to as many people as possible. The funding will allow us to produce the game and to communicate about the new publisher. The objective is to offer an attractive and accessible product to spread the game as much as possible.
Big Monster has benefited from a long development and many tests. 15 prototypes circulate since January all over France and Belgium.
The illustrations are already done. This is not a project that begins its development. The manufacturing plant (NSF in Holland) is chosen and we visited it. We are in regular contact with a project manager of the factory in order to professionally and qualitatively prepare all the elements necessary for manufacturing.
Posting a board game is always a risky business. Many problems can arise, mistakes can be made because a game is not a standard product, it is always custom. We have benefited from many expert advice from the publishing industry to prevent the maximum risk.
Our team consists of 3 people with complementary profiles. Everyone did not count their hours to offer a quality product that was deliverable on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
