Digital sample has arrived!
I have some great news, the digital sample of the game arrived yesterday and except for a few small things, it looks fantastic. I've added some pics.
All of the components have met or exceeded my expectations.
The cards - These are just awesome, they have a very light linen texture, shuffle very well, are super smooth to the touch and have a nice matte finish. In addition, the finish does not pick up finger prints. These are some of the best cards I have seen from any of the printers I have received samples from. If you can't tell that I am really happy with these cards, let me just say that I am really happy with these cards. These particular cards were printed by the method they will use for mass production (I paid quite a bit more to have this done as I didn't want any surprises). If there is any issue with these cards, it would be that the colors do not quite pop as well as I would like. This might be due to the matte finish that is applied and, if so, I will have to go in and adjust the brightness of the cards to compensate, this should not be a big deal as this printer has been extremely easy to communicate with so far.
The punch board components - These are also extremely impressive. The board is 2mm thick and the pieces feel of very good quality. The colors on these are spot on.
The rulebook - Material feels good, but the color and crispness needs just a little bit of work to make it pop more. Overall though, very close.
The Box - It gets a bit tricky here. They sent me a complete box and a separate sheet with the box printed on it. I believe that the sheet represents the actual color match they are shooting for and the "complete" box represents the component quality. If this is the case, then we are good. The box has a silky smooth matte finish (similar to feel of what Apple uses on all their products), but the colors need to match closer to the sheet they printed.
I think that the best news here is that even with Chinese New Year stopping everything for almost three weeks, we have the digital sample and there isn't much that needs to be fixed. So we should be very close to starting final production. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for reading this far and as I have more info, I'll be sure to share.
