Thank everyone who already backed us up! Creative Clues got funded, which means that we will produce and ship the sticker bundles in spring 2019.
If you still haven't backed us, forget that you can do so only until Thursday the 29th, 15:30 CET! 💡⚡💡
You don't need the Kickstarter account to support us, you can back up as a guest.
Why would you want Creative Clues?
Have you joined a brainstorming session then felt stuck somewhere along the way? Or perhaps you’ve noticed the ideas just aren’t unique and it seems people are all suggesting the same things?
Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon where people in a group tend to keep quiet about their ideas or simply nod at anything presented to them just so they don’t disrupt the uniformity. This can be unhealthy on any organization since you need innovation and new creative ideas to run a business or any project.
As they say – Groupthink sinks the ship!
Or perhaps, you’ve been to workshops where the moderator asked the participants to sketch but most of the participants only came up with a bunch of illegible text?
Have you tried data gathering and feel your participant is giving out only superficial answers to get it over with?
Are you trying to come up with a better way to conduct a teamwork session to do away with long disputes?
That’s what Creative Clues is here for!

What exactly are Creative Clues?
Creative Clues are A5 sheets that each contain 9-10 text or illustration stickers. They cover a wide range of topics such as communication, industries, metaphors, human needs, technology, transportation, emoji, and a lot more. In total there are 20 categories with 1-3 sets each. We envision to have over 400 unique sticker designs.
The stickers are easy to use for your usual brainstorming sessions. They can fit on a standard sticky note and have light glue so they are easy to move around. Each design is clean and simple and you can draw on it with a ball pen or permanent marker should you need to express your ideas in more detail.
During the testing, we realized that some people prefer to use illustration based stickers, while in others use text ones more often. An image can say a thousand words, yet sometimes all you need is the right word.
Disclaimer: photos and video may show content that may still change to a small degree. Some texts or illustrations may be replaced if we find better wording or metaphors.
How do you use Creative Clues for your meetings?
From my experience, I've noticed that usually at some point in a creative session, people start to find it difficult to come up with a new idea without some sort of input. Creativity is based on associations and you might be surprised how people can think outside the box given the right visual stimuli.
How to do an ideation or brainstorming session with Creative Clues:
1. HMW – Create a problem statement or a How-We-Might question to make sure all the participants are on the same page and have a good understanding of the problem.
2. Braindump – Have a short round of braindumping – 5 minutes should be enough. Ask each participant to silently write down their own ideas. Do not use the Clues at this stage just yet. The goal here is to write the first, obvious ideas.
3. Creative Clues – Select an appropriate sticker sets at the beginning of the workshop and give them to the participants. My advise is to either:
a. give each person one sticker sheet, or
b. hang up the sheets on the wall where everyone can see. This way, you can ensure engagement from everyone as they would need to move around.
Spend one round – about 5 minutes – asking each person to make associations between the problem statement and the Clues they see. Remind them not to jump from one clue to another, but rather force themselves to find new and surprising connections. This should be done individually in order to avoid groupthink.
You can give the participants examples of what to think about. For example if someone gets Industries and Objects set, she or he could consider how would a hotel industry solve our problem? Or by using Needs and Value as stimuli, one can ask if there are any unmet needs, such as belonging, we didn't consider and can make use of.
Everyone takes a sticker, puts it on a piece of paper or a sticky note and writes a brief explanation next to it. Then you repeat until this round is over and everyone briefly shares their ideas.
4. More rounds – you can repeat the process and share ideas among the participants for as many rounds as you think necessary.
HOW ELSE CAN I USE CREATIVE CLUES?
We've noticed that the Clues can be a great way to enrich your journey mapping sessions, visualize information clusters, develop personas and co-create with your users.
Get creative! We’re pretty sure there are lots of other things you can use these Clues for! ;)
How much does Creative Clues cost?
There are two bundles available: a BASIC and a FULL version. But that's not all of it: if the campaign reaches the goal of €6000 we unlock the "stretched goal" and we will design 5 more illustration sets. That means, that the price doesn't change for your bundles, but you get more stickers!
The additional sets in the stretch goal are:
Metaphors and Symbols set no. 2
Communication set no. 2
Industries and Objects no. 3
Surprises and Serendipity set no. 2
Nature set no. 2
Below you can see a full overview of the bundles' content.
IL = illustration sets
TXT = text sets
* only available after reaching the stretch goal.
So when does Creative Clues come out?
In case the campaign DOESN'T reach the goal, you don't risk anything, because you won't spend any money. In such case most likely we will keep using the Clues in our work but we won't be selling any stickers. It will be a challenge to let a project like this go, but that's life :)
If the campaign reaches the goal, the plan is following:
November 2018 - the Kickstarter campaign runs. We do additional tests, to see whether some changes to the designs are necessary.
December 2018 - we sum the campaign up and take some time rest after a very busy year.
January, February 2019 - the final designs are done. This includes creating some more illustrations, designing additional text stickers, doing the final layouts. We do more test prints.
March 2019 - we ship the Clues to you! Currently we tend towards using an "international mail", with tracking and insurance. This works up to 500g (FULL BUNDLE just fits that weight). If you can give us advice regarding another cost effective shipping, please get in touch!
Later in 2019 - depending on the project outcome and the received feedback, we will consider turning Creative Clues into a regular product or treating it as a one time project. Who knows how this might turn out :)

Risks and challenges
The project had been in development since mid 2017, so there's a lot of thought behind all the decisions. Most of the designs are done, except these from the stretch goal and some other minor changes.
We'd been testing and working with multiple printing houses and we've found one that offers great value for money and prints in an eco-friendly way.
Therefore all the risk there is, may be regarding the final designs and printing time and that's why we don't promise to deliver the packages earlier then March 2019.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
