Indian mythology has been accumulating the sacred stories and heroic epics for well over 3,000 years. Nothing in this complex and colorful mythology is fixed and firm. Pulsing with creation, destruction, love, and war, it shifts and changes. Most myths occur in several different versions, and many characters have multiple roles, identities, and histories. This seeming confusion reflects the richness of a mythology that has expanded and taken on new meanings over the centuries.
Indian mythology is populated by an enormous cast of deities, demons, demigods, humans, and animals. The attributes and histories of many mythological characters have changed considerably over the many centuries.
The characters from the Ramayana are fundamental to the cultural consciousness of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia. There are many other versions of the Ramayana in Indian languages, besides Buddhist and Jain adaptations; and also, Cambodian, Indonesian, Filipino, Thai, Laos, Burmese, and Malaysian versions of the epic. Thailand has its own version called the Ramakian, which is not simply a translation, but a rewriting of the story that reflects Thai cultural perspective regarding this ancient epic.
Book Details. What's inside?
This book opens doors to a long-felt want of an illustrated character encyclopedia of Indian gods, demons, giants, heroes and monsters. This has encyclopedic descriptions of most of the characters from the three epics, the Ramayana, the Bhagavata, and the Mahabharata and hopefully, serves as a ‘go to’ resource.
This book is closer to an "art book" than regular mythology book. This book will be 8.5 x 11 inches hard case, 186 pages with around 225 lavishly illustrated artworks. Every page features spectacular art and is packed with detailed information on each character's origin, fascinating facts, skills, and powers.
We have been working hard since March 2016 to create a most comprehensive and beautiful collection of Indian mythological characters ever produced which we believe you will love. Our goal is to create a must have item for readers of all ages who are interested in demons, gods, warriors and other strange mythological creatures.

Risks and challenges
Minimal risk. While there is always risk in any project, we believe funding this project involves minimal risk because pre-production is already complete, and Indian Mythology The Ultimate Character Encyclopedia is ready for production.
When we planned to take up this task, we immediately realized this can't be accomplished until unless we find talented and dedicated artists and we are so fortunate to find three amazingly talented artists who did the artworks for this book and words just can't describe how much we appreciate their contributions.
We were working on this project since March 2016 and lifted the heavy burden of completing the artworks and the book design. We need your generous help to print the book and get into your hands.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
