Production Update #1

Posted by Eric Harvey (Creator)

Hello folks,

Here is the first of numerous updates as we go through production. Firstly, we have some of the new game pieces finished with sculpting, and here's some of the ones that have completed the first stage:

Cobra attack helicopter
Cobra attack helicopter
Chinook heavy lift helicopter
Chinook heavy lift helicopter
AC-47 gunship
AC-47 gunship
M-41 Walker Bulldog
M-41 Walker Bulldog

Additionally, I have a graphic artist ready to begin the Vietnam maps on Monday, and we are fortunate to have whom I consider to be the best map artist in the wargame industry contracted to do our maps!

I also have the Event Card decks started by another excellent graphic artist, and he should have them completed in a couple weeks at the most. Once both artists are done, I will post samples here for everybody to see.

I'll also have the World War 3 game's map started by next week, and that map should actually be finished first (because it is only a single map), so look forward to seeing that. That game will also have a deck of cards, which should be finished in a couple weeks as well. :-)

I will post more sculpture samples as they are completed!

Thank you,

Steven Molen, Pedro, and 37 more people like this update.

Just noticed this in the Patton movie with George C. Scott.

Yeah, how many episodes of Combat! included the M-41? (as both a German and American tank). :-)

Yes, that idea (clear discs) occurred to me. We plan to explore all possibilities, including that one as an option. Ironically, the Chinook is the biggest problem because of its twin rotor, three blade arrangement, but it's likely that it will come separate from its rotors, and players will likely have the option to include them or leave them off. We're still a ways off from all of that at the moment, however.

As Ivica said I have doubts over the rotor blades. I have Axis & Allies: D-Day and I had a lot of trouble with my 88's. However, you can circumvent this by putting a clear disc instead of the rotors. I've done so many times and this is widely done in the miniature world. It shows the helicopters flying. :)

Eric, thanks for your reply. I'm sure you and your team will deliver the best possible product you can make. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Oh good lord... I meant Cobra, not Apache 😂

The rotor blades on the choppers are just one of many small things that we'll be reviewing before production begins, and we are aware of your concerns. I have to coordinate a conversation with the factory and the sculptors, and come to the best possible solution (which has not been determined yet), but everybody involved is aware of these issues or will be, and we'll come up with the best solution. We're some ways off from that right not. For the moment, it's just easier to have everything sculpted and then go back and tabulate each sculpts potential issues, if any. :-)

      Crazy Celt,
All I meant is that we're working on a single map at a time. As per the polls, I did indeed create a Euro-Middle East map and am building a scenario around that, including a deck of cards for it. I am told it should be done in a couple weeks. I'll be posting samples of everything as it is completed.

The models look fantastic, great job!
My only concern lies with the rotors of both the Chinook and Apache. With the sheer amount of miniatures in this game, I would assume that there are no moulds in the game insert to hold these. If they're bundled together collectively in a bag I'm not sure how long they'd last before breaking off.

      Excellent! Looking good👍🏼

@Eric, when you say the WW III map is just a single map which is it? I thought the two options of the map were tied, and was not aware that a down select had occurred.
