NEW GOAL: $30,000! ONE WEEK TO GO!
When we set this project up we set it at $20,000 because we didn't want to set it so high that we risked not funding at all, but the truth is we can use much more than $20,000 to make the film. $20,000 is actually about $16,000 (Kickstarter gets 10% and another 10% toward fulfilling rewards). Anything additional beyond the $20,000 will help us travel to more shows than originally anticipated as well as being able to hire someone to do a score for the film along with a plethora of other things. There are a lot of costs associated with making a film that will be offset by the kind backers of Kickstarter.com. Please understand that every dollar raised will go towards making this an even better film.
ABOUT THE FILM:
Bert Kreischer: On The Road is a feature length documentary that will follow popular stand-up comedian and TV personality, Bert Kreischer. In 1997 Rolling Stone magazine called Bert the #1 party animal in the nation. From that point, unbelievably, his life got even crazier. He had the rights to his life story optioned by Oliver Stone, moved to New York to pursue a stand up career and was discovered by Will Smith, wrestled a bear, fought a bull, was a dominatrix gimp, and robbed a train with the Russian Mafia. He is currently the star of two TV shows including the hit Travel Channel show, “Bert The Conqueror,” and has appeared on David Letterman, Rachael Ray, Good Morning America and DIY’s Man Caves.
From the first time we met Bert we were hooked. He’s funny, crazy and one of the greatest storytellers we’ve ever encountered. The most amazing thing was that all of his stories were true! We knew that if we had the opportunity and access to follow him on his comedy tour, he would make for a great, entertaining subject for a documentary. And quite frankly, we knew that wherever Bert Kreischer was, crazy s#!% would happen and we wanted to be there to film it.
There are a number of expenses associated with a project of this kind and we need to fund it in a way that makes sense. The biggest expense comes from going on the road with Bert...travelling with him for a number of stand-up dates this fall, as well as hard production costs which includes some additional equipment. There are also post production costs for things such as music, mixing, finishing, etc. We have kept our budget minimal but need your help to see this project to completion!
Bert’s standup dates are lined up now through February 2012. Go here http://bertbertbert.com/Calendar.php to see Bert’s tour dates. We will update you along the way to let you know exact dates of when and where we will be filming. Maybe you can be a part of the documentary audience.
When will I receive my rewards?
All reward items (photos, CDs, stand-up DVDs, t-shirts, personalized thank you videos), except for copies of the completed movie, will be shipped 4-6 weeks after receiving the successful Kickstarter funding. We will make it a priority to get your rewards to you as quickly as possible to say thanks for your support! Delivery of DVD copies of the film and private screening will be upon film completion. Tickets to see one of Bert’s stand-up tour dates can be arranged prior to that date. We will contact you following funding to arrange for tickets. All rewards that involve personal interaction with Bert will need to be arranged as his schedule allows. Bert is excited to participate in the personal interaction rewards and we promise we will do everything we can to fulfill these in a timely manner and you will most definitely have a great time hanging out with Bert!
Is the Kickstarter really all or nothing? What happens if we don't hit the goal within the time span?
Yes, it really is all or nothing. If we don't raise the whole amount ($20k), we will receive nothing. Your credit card will never be charged.
Can we exceed the goal?
Yep! That would be awesome. It would allow us to follow Bert for more dates as well as help offset other costs involved with the production, i.e. paying talented people for stuff like music, mixing, color correction, etc. Kickstarter will let us keep whatever amount we raise within our time allotted (30 days) as long as we reach our goal. The more money we raise here, the bigger and better the film and release will be.
Can I increase my pledge once I've made one?
Absolutely! After you've pledged once, just sign into Kickstarter, click on the "Manage Your Donation" button that will have replaced the "Back this Project" button and enter a higher amount. And, if you like, select the corresponding (higher) reward.
What if I don't want to receive a reward?
Then we will be deeply indebted to you for your selfless generosity and appreciate your backing of the arts. There's a button you can select indicating that you don't want a reward.
Will my pledge be displayed publicly?
Nope. No one will know how much you pledge except for us.
If I don't live in the U.S., can I still back this project and receive rewards?
Yes! If you contribute enough to merit a material reward, then please help us cover shipping costs by adding $1 if you're in Canada and $5 if you live elsewhere. You can write in any amount for your pledge. So, instead of entering $50, for example, write in $51 if you live in Canada or $55 if you live outside of Canada or the U.S.
