About this project
Wise Old Woman (featuring Crystal Reeves on Fiddle, Vince Herman on Mandolin, and Mikey Stevens on Bass)
Down to the Wire!!! Time is running out!! We reached our minimum goal but in order to have completely DEBT-FREE album release I need to reach $14,900!! I CAN ONLY DO THIS WITH YOUR HELP!! EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!
I am so excited to be creating this project "If I Were An Otter: Songs for Kids of All Ages." My goal for these tunes is to entertain and empower kids to be their best selves and to cherish this beautiful planet we live on.
I hope you will check out all the wonderful rewards to right and choose whichever level of support is comfortable for you. After you make your pledge of support please tell EVERYONE YOU KNOW about this page because when we believe in something and share it, we make MAGIC! I cannot do this without YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!!
The recording is complete and we are now in the mixing and mastering stage. I know this will be a fabulous addition to your library of music (whether you have kids or not.) I play acoustic guitar and sing on the record and am joined by long-time band member Mikey Stevens on Bass, Trumpet, and Vocals ( He also plays with State Of Jefferson and has backed the likes of Gypsy Soul and many more); Vince Herman on Mandolin and Vocals (Sweet new friend and founder of Leftover Salmon and Great American Taxi); the fabulous Crystal Reeves on Violin, Viola, Banjolin, and Vocals (of Siskiyou Summit Bluegrass Band fame!); one of my fave accompanists Jeff Pevar on dobro & banjo (CPR, Rickie Lee Jones, Ray Charles and so many more); and my buddy James Keigher (Men Of Worth) on Bohdran, Vocals, and Mandocello. The album is being recorded at Dragon Family Foundation Studios at Pacifica in Williams, Oregon by Dennis Dragon who recorded hits like "Love Will Keep Us Together" for Captain and Tenille. It's fun having so many gold records on the walls of the studio! My trusty side-kick Roxy Ann (aka the Dog-gess of Compassion) is with me every step of the way and keeps everyone smiling in the studio!
The 13-song playlist is a combination of originals that I have written (Hunting Song, Made Out of Water, Honey Bee Blues, Wise Old Woman, Celebrate the Rain, If I Were An Otter, City Mouse/Country Mouse) and favorites written by other folks including Bob Marley (Three Little Birds), Dave Mallet (The Garden Song), This Little Light of Mine, a medley of Simple Gifts and Row, Row, Row Your Boat, and the classic Jesse Fuller tune made famous by the Grateful Dead: The Monkey and the Engineer.
Making records takes lots of money, otherwise I wouldn't be asking for help. I believe in transparency, so here's my budget so you know EXACTLY where OUR money is going.
$2500 to pay musicians.
$6500 for the studio time (recording, mixing, and mastering)
$1000 for artwork for the cover and the Songbook/Coloring Book (by the fabulous artist Dg House http://www.dghouseart.com )
$500 for graphic design (by Cody Fisher http://newdetailsdesign.com )
$1600 for printing CDs (and shipping)
$2000 for promotion and publicity
$800 for printing SongBook/Coloring Books
That total so far is $14,900. WITH YOUR HELP I CAN COMPLETE MY FIRST KIDS ALBUM! Now that we've reached my minimum goal of $9,999 I can release this album with a more reasonable amount of debt. BUT WE STILL HAVE MORE TIME! What a blessing it would be to release this album DEBT-FREE!! This will be a first since my first album in 1988! You're support reminds me to listen to my own lyrics "you gotta ask for what you want before you get it!" I can only do this with YOUR HELP!
YOUR HELP IS GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED! PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, and EVERYONE YOU KNOW & LOVE!!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Risks and challenges
I am experienced with making CDs and working through the obstacles that come up in the process. With 12 CDs recorded and released on my own label independently since my first album "Make A Change" came out in 1988, I think my record stands for itself. I have also worked with other folks and produced an album "Circle Of Women" for EarthBeat! Records in 1997.
For many of my projects I have borrowed money and successfully paid back those loans in a timely manner. I know I "can" do that, but I am hoping and praying that YOU choose to support my kickstarter campaign so that I may release this record "debt-free."
I will continue to write and tour and play music with the goal of bringing people closer to each other and this planet: A message I have been singing for 30 years. This is my spiritual path and my passion. Having the support of a diverse community of souls, united in our love of LIFE itself gives me the strength and fortitude to forge ahead through any obstacles that are presented. YOU ARE MY STRENGTH! Thank YOU!
