More Prints but Mould Problems

Hey folks,

Last week was very frustrating, hence no update.

The print material has been reacting to the silicon moulds; the rubber wouldn't cure on the contact surface between it and the print, the mould was still sticky and the prints went all "rubbery". After some testing we do, however, have a solution; a thin coat of surface primer should do the trick and seal the material. The first models will have gone under rubber last night so I'll report back as soon as I hear from Rob.

This has set us back a couple of weeks, and with Salute coming up, Rob reckons we won't be shipping until mid to back end of April now. Not ideal but wanted to keep you guys fully up-to-date with developments. Sincere apologies.

On a positive note we have more prints! These just need a final clean up, which is done now and they are under rubber.

More prints soon, vehicles are due up shortly, and I'll drop a quick note as soon as I've heard from Rob on the moulds.

Thanks to all of you for your continued support and patience, we'll get there soon.

All the very best,

John

thanks for the confidence Falk :D
what I suggest is once we start production drop me a line and we'll sort stuff out for ya, weirdly you're not the first to ask that either, which is very nice considering how long its taken us to get this think rolling.
      All the very best!

Oh the joy of casting models :)

      @ John:
Any chance that the pledge manager gets re-opened before shipping? I feel like I want to get more ;)

Just got word from Rob, black rubber mould failed, again it cooked the models but didn't cure at the contact surface, next up today low temp vulcanising silicon mould. Failing that we'll opted for cold cure rtv moulds to cast resin masters which we will black rubber mould. This will work but takes longest, and is more expensive, as there are more operations/material needed.
On the up side all the VASA stuff except the vehicles are now printed, Rob's cleaning them up, shoudl have pics later today. Update you again shortly, cheers folks

@ Colonel Saunders appreciate the support fella, thanks, we need to clean masters so that the casts are perfect for you to ruin your eyes on them :D
@ Andrew Coleman cheers man, all the factions are looking pretty good, but I'll make sure the Junkers are best :D :D :D
      @John R Hood me twoo ;-)

It is great to see more new pieces. The Synth are looking very nice.Still not as nice as the Junkers though ;).

I am sure Rob will figure it out.

Well, I'm not at all an expert of 3D printing and its issues, so all I can say is just "Good Luck and keep on !"

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the final shipping month will be june : Rob has to master a new technology, and clean all these tiny bits (couldn't we pledgers clean our minis by ourselves ?)

And, most important, it's amazing to sre the incredible level on details, for a 6 mm minis ! I'll loose my eyes trying to paint all this stuff !
