Happy New Year!

Posted by John Robertson (Creator)

Hey folks,

Well we hope you all enjoyed the holiday season, now we're back to business here's an update on the project so far.

We have had some problems with consistency in our metal casts, from the back end of November we could see that some parts were simply not casting well. The little 6mm fellas are a challenge in anybody's eyes so Rob's really been up against it. He decided then to look to re-print many of the infantry models and carry out some additional work to them, modifying gates, re-positioning masters in the mould, increasing production mould size to 11" rather than 9", because size does matter! As part of this process Rob invested in a new improved 3D printer, sadly however he has spent a very frustrating few months trying to get this new printer to work properly, in fact he had to return 3 of them due to faulty parts and in the end has accepted a refund to invest in another design. He's had a tough time of it.

I am however glad to report that he will take deliver this week of a brand new printer that will allow us to implement the production improvements as mentioned about. Further we now have some of the vehicle designs under rubber so we should have some production pictures of those shortly too.

Our shipment window of March/April this year is still on, these upsets have taken away our margin of error, however, that's why they were there in the first place.

I hope to be able to show you folks casts next week.

Finally, most of you will have noticed that you received a link to the latest version of the rulebook over the holiday period. We have had some fantastic feedback already and are implementing some changes due to backer comments. If you have noticed anything that you think is either wrong or perhaps needs clarification, then please get in touch.

Talk to you folks next week.

All the very best

Good to hear from you guys. I'm taking a course in rapid prototyping (3d printing) as part of my engineering degree either next semester or the semester after that. Can't wait to struggle though the same fun as Rob.

He's been a trooper mate and I am delighted that the casts meet your approval! Rob's a stickler for quality, this will ensure it makes AoT a premium line, all the best

Really sorry to hear that Rob has had problems casting up the figures and with the printers too.I am sure that things will work out well in the end though.
On Saturday i received a box from Rob with the prizes in from the competition which you ran in the KS.I have to say the quality of the vehicle sculpts is amazing. Both in design and casting of them. Some of the parts are really small and yet still hold the detail well.
Really looking forward to fielding a full force of the the miniatures even more so now.
