Would you like to command squadrons upon squadrons of huge, heavily armoured tanks? How about great batteries of massive field guns and rockets? Maybe legions upon legions of infantry are more your thing? You can have all these things in the new, massive-scale wargame, Age of Tyrants. Whatever your preference, it will be MASSIVE!
Age of Tyrants is set in the Draconis Alba galaxy, a futuristic alternative universe that has been in development for over fifteen years.
The game is slick, with an intuitive command and control system inspired by combined arms warfare that allows you to pull together different parts of your army to focus on a particular target or objective.
There are 4 factions to choose from, each with very different play styles to suit your approach. Forces are simple, and easy-to-build. Models are all mounted on a standard 50mm square base. 4 bases form a platoon, and 4 platoons form a company which is the starting force for your game.
Games of a company a side can be played on a 4 foot square gaming surface. Once you get the hang of the system you can try bigger games with more companies on larger tables.
As we roll out the expansions, we’ll introduce specialist platoons such as recon, urban warfare, airborne elements and tank hunters. Simply swap out old platoons for new ones to fit the strategic objectives of the scenario.
You too can take the game for spin all you need is on our website.

The models come in two basic sorts: infantry and vehicles. The infantry will be produced in a white metal and the vehicles will come as multipart kits with larger parts, such as hulls and turrets, in polyurethane resin, and smaller parts in white metal. In addition all production moulds will be made directly from 3D printed masters, to retain optimal detail with negligible shrinkage.
You can clearly see the remarkable detail on the resin vehicles, which is the level of detail you will receive with your production casts. Metal figures will benefit from this approach as it removes a whole moulding process, ensuring greater fidelity and detail on the casts.
Here's Stephen and Ben, from Anything But Wargaming, talking about some of our models.
We have prepared a gallery of photographs to show the relative size of our models in comparison to other wargaming figures and scales that are available in the market. We hope the section is broad enough to give as many of you an idea of the size of our MASSIVE scale tanks.
There is a popular misconception that painting 6mm is much harder than 28mm, but this is not true, it's just a question of technique. We have a few painting tutorials already online for the vehicles and I hope to have a few for the infantry soon.
We are working with a number of well-established hobby companies that will be bringing products to this Kickstarter: Litko for templates and counters, Deep Cut Studios for gaming mats, Red Vector for MDF buildings and terrain, Brigade Models for resin buildings, Fantasy Printshop for water slide transfers, Dice and Games for…well dice, and maybe a few more. Look out for their add-ons as the Kickstarter rolls out.
Although we have managed to create many of the initial designs for the project, develop the rules and fund some sample production, we need your help in order to make Age of Tyrants a reality and put our ideas and designs into production. Without your support there will be no product. 3D printing, production moulds and a whole range of production and design costs will be funded by our backers, it will essentially be a joint effort.
Pledging in the Age of Tyrants Kickstarter allows you to select any products up to the value of your pledge. See the table of products for information on what you can use your pledge to buy. There are a series of pledge levels, most of which reward you with free stuff. The higher your pledge, the more free stuff is included - simple. In addition, early bird pledge levels feature special, limited rewards such as original artwork. A number of the pledge levels correspond to particular products, like multiplayer sets and fixed companies (a company is the standard army in Age of Tyrants). You can use the pledge manager to increase your pledge amount, but be aware that if you do this, you will only qualify for rewards based on the original pledge. If you want to add enough to tip you over the threshold into a higher pledge level, your best bet is to cancel your original pledge, then select the higher pledge level. In addition to your pledge you can also purchase any of the products as add-ons after the Kickstarter closes. Shipping costs are applied after you have selected your products.
Myriad Miniatures is a team of like-minded designers working together on this project to realise their concepts. We, the creators, own this game and it is our passion for gaming that has brought us together to create Age of Tyrants. We are gamers making products for gamers. We are very fortunate to have made lots of friends around the world since we started this project and many of them have helped promote and review samples of our products, here’s what they say in our review section of our website.
We've used other people's experiences to guide our decision to charge shipping after the Kickstarter ends, based on actual costs. We will collect this charge via our Pledge Manager after the campaign closes. We will be shipping your pledges from Europe. We will use a tracked UPS service, so you know at all times where your pledge is once it has left us. As a rough guide our minimum shipment weight is 0.5kg, you can get 24 of our larger tanks in that, so 6 armoured Platoons, Shipping to the USA would be about £7 GBP and the same to Europe. These prices may vary depending on UPS prices at the time of shipping.
Risks and challenges
Production wise there are potential risks in any project that outsources its production. However, we have triple sourced most of our component parts: resin casting, white metal casting and printing with plastic bases and dice two sources. All suppliers have confirmed they can work within our shipping time frames. This not only gives us security in being able to deliver, it also guarantees that we have control over our costs and that we are not exposed to an exclusive supply chain.
From the design side of things we are very tight. The initial range of models are developed and only need modification now for 3D printing and production. Furthermore, most of the designs for the first four expansions of the Kickstarter are ready, with design concepts done for three more expansions. The main rules are ready for layout, barring any changes we feel we may have to make based on backer feedback.
If the product is staggeringly well received we may have to adjust the shipping times but we feel very confident that we have enough production contingencies built in. Whatever happens we will be advising our backers of any foreseeable delays in good time.
International customers (outside of the EU) may encounter unexpected import taxes and/or delays in customs. You can contact your customs department for more information.
Whatever your concerns, queries or questions, we are here so please don’t hesitate to contact us, thanks.
