About this project
I need your help to publish my book on the relationship between my minimalistic sculptural work and the rugged landscape of Ireland. Your support means more to me than you could possibly know.
- Here are a few details on the book: Beyond / €25,00 / $28,50 / 600 copies / hardcover / 128p / Peter Foolen Editions – Eindhoven (NL)
- contributors: Cees de Boer NL / Alistair Rider UK / Vilis Inde US (foreword) / Photography Peter Cox / Cecilia Vissers.
The monograph Beyond of the work of the Dutch artist Cecilia Vissers (1964) will be published by Peter Foolen Editions (NL) in June 2016 in a Dutch/English edition. In addition to a comprehensive overview of Vissers’ sculptural work Beyond presents a series of exceptional landscape photographs made by the artist during her journeys to Ireland.
“The photographs of the landscapes of Ireland, are the basis of my works. They remind me of an extra ordinary nature experience. It’s not about the landscape in a literal likeness, but rather in its forms, colors, effects and the subjective experience it gives rise to. A deep sense of place”.
“My collaboration with the metal industries is an essential part of my work. The dying of the aluminium plates is done in specialized industries. I like to look at these processes as ‘alchemy’; the transformation of matter (metal)”
Beyond, includes two special commissioned essays by art historians Dr. Alistair Rider from the United Kingdom and Dutch art historian and curator Cees de Boer from Amsterdam. The foreword is written by Vilis Inde, Director of inde/jacobs gallery of Marfa, Texas.
As far as rewards go - the book is the main thing- but this is a great time to get a limited edition sculpture (aluminium/steel) or an exclusive signed print on dibond. You will get invitations to book launches and solo exhibitions in Europe and the United States.

I want to thank bkkc, the centre for professional art and culture in Brabant, The Netherlands. Floss&Schultz Gallery (Cologne) and inde/jacobs gallery, (Marfa, TX) for their support!
Save the date: The book-launch and solo exhibition ‘a moment in time’ will be on the 3rd of June at Floss&Schultz Gallery in Cologne, Germany.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge is to get the book ready before the 3rd of June. This is the date of the opening of my solo exhibition + book launch at Floss&Schultz in Cologne. All parties are working hard, the essays are ready and have been translated into Dutch/English. The book publisher/designer and me are thinking about the cover and the format of the book (depending on the budget). The next thing is to get the book to the printer, we'll do some test prints first to minimize risks. Part of the book has been funded by bkkc, the centre for professional art and culture in Brabant, The Netherlands. Also my galleries in Cologne and Marfa (US) support the project wherever they can!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
