As our September delivery date has long come and gone, we'd like to address the delay, the plan moving forward and the expected release date of our album.

Releasing a record independently has been a real undertaking. In addition to artistic satisfaction, the administrative and executive end had to feel right as well. Side artist clearances and appropriating the best distribution for this project has been just as important. With negotiations complete, we are now working on the plan for our awaited release. Thank you all for your patience.

In late December we'll hit you with a treat and release a song entitled "Train Wreck" followed by our first single "Pain" feat. Snoop Dogg, slated for February/March. Album release date is April 29th.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on our progress.

Thanks folks.

Anonymously,

Us.

Very exciting, I don't mind a delay, Kickstarter is like that. Can't wait for Train Wreck. Thanks guys

      In one update you posted:
"In late December we'll hit you with a treat and release a song entitled "Train Wreck"
are you still going to release the song?

    4. Aaron Klenke on December 2, 2015

Thanks for the update. I know it's going to be worth the wait.
      Peace.

I don't mind that the album has been delayed, would have really appreciated an update via e-mail though (or just to let me know that there is an update here on kickstarter)...I don't always have time to log into kickstarter... but maybe, you did and I'm mistaken.

Thanks anyway and good luck with everything...

Do the prints not ship out until the album release date?

    7. Dave on November 23, 2015

April 29th is my birthday. I'm cool with waiting for such an awesome bday present :)

    8. Thom Slattery on November 22, 2015

I'm fine with Kickstarters I've backed dealing with delays in manufacturing in China. So I'm totally OK with you guys taking your time to get the album right.

    9. Richard Rodriguez on November 21, 2015

Hey guys, When will you be shipping out the T-Shirts? I received an email asking for my size a while back but have not heard anything since. Thanks, peace...

    10. Julian Franciscus Vaughn on November 21, 2015

I'm not complaining. I know it will be worth the wait. Besides, these guys have more than earned the right to not even be questioned about things such as deadlines or schedules.

As far as I am concerned it is a foregone conclusion that this will be a quality work, legendary even. And those that have been fortunate enough to have actually garnered any one of the original Kickstarter flash drives are receiving a genuine Talisman. And one filled with much more than mythological magical powers, but, rather, SOUL power in the form of music from these great artists.

These guys are expert at their craft. They put their heart and soul into their works. And the sheer depth and quality of De La's musical & lyrical expression is what made them stand out from their very first release. You all know this. So however long it takes is, again, well worth it.

Meanie, meanie, meanie, meanie... kidding, I'm tiding myself over with some oldies. ;o)

Guys, when I bought the album I could only afford to buy one of the flash drives and I want all three. Is there any chance we will be able to add them (and/or other options) when the survey comes out?

    22. De La Soul Creator on November 20, 2015

Aaron Klenke: Peace Aaron. Although the music is being wrapped up we are as well finishing up the legal side between us and the featured artist on the project and a great list of other things. We feel putting out all the configurations of the album at the same time will lend more to the release & success of the project. We were blessed to have people like you to come in early & play a part in helping to fund the making of this album and we want to place all the proper set up into this project which include press, Radio etc to allow other De La and overall music lovers to know about the project who may not know anything about the kickstarter world.

    23. Kate Ali on November 20, 2015

The fact that you're taking the time to do it right is exciting! I want to listen to this album for years to come, so what's a few months. Making creative work while fighting deadlines can be rough. Be kind to one another, yourselves and your families. Love to you.

    24. Michael Hart on November 20, 2015

yo, this is an album of music from a kickstarter project, not a new mazda from the showroom dunny. The butthurt on shipdates is trifle misplaced, like a spoiled kid whining that he wants that mommy.

    25. David Adam Edelstein on November 20, 2015

I CAN'T WAIT... for it to be the RIGHT time to drop this.

We've been waiting years... another couple of months aren't going to kill us. Take the time to do it right.

    26. De La Soul Creator on November 20, 2015

Peace everybody! Thanks for your continued faith in us. Your positive comments mean a lot!!

Ronald Baisden - No Jalils, no new summer house, no new rims, not even a new pair of J's.
You won't be disappointed and will get a full understanding when you hear
the quality of our work. Peace - Dave

    27. Hayley Rosenblum on November 20, 2015

Trust - when the record is out, you're going to hear that it's worth every minute of anticipation. Stoked for the singles to drop!

    29. Jean-Paul J Detiege on November 20, 2015

I understand the disappointment with the release getting pushed back until April, but I also understand it takes a lot of work to release an album and do it right. So I'm not stressing. It will come when it's ready.

The reviews from the people at the listen party have me pretty excited. Sounds like it's going to be a great album.

I bought in for the Digital music only . . can't you help a brother out? Distribution doesn't matter to people like myself.

    32. De La Soul Creator on November 20, 2015

FYI, if you've received surveys, you can always update your address there. If you haven't, you will receive one as we're getting closer to shipping your stuff, which will ask you for your shipping address. I hope this helps.

      - Howard.

No worries, guys. Cannot wait to hear some of the new material. For those complaining - not sure what the urgent rush to get a new album is all about? Would you rather De La rushed their artistry for the sake of meeting an arbitrary release date? Quality music has never and will never be made that way..

They made six times their Kickstarter goal, offered no reach goal rewards and their still going to be 7 months late with an indie produced album. Kind of disappointed.

    42. Andy Robinett on November 20, 2015

Hold up......is that a typo? Late April? I was okay with the wait and figured more than likely by the end of the year but damn.

Jon Romano on November 20, 2015

I don't mind 7 months delay for De La but I'm surprised an indie release would take so long to get out! I hope we get some cool one off singles that aren't on the album in the mean time!

    45. Jerome Zech on November 20, 2015

MAN....I don't know that I've anticipated an album like this before. "The Grind Date" is a moment in time for me - I have a feeling this one will be too. Take all the time you need - I can't wait to hear it when it's ready (and get my 45 in the mail). PROPS, De La!!!
