Race your pilot through dark mysterious caves in a technological advanced aeroplane. Think ahead to evade traps and outmaneuver opponents. Fire missiles at giant centipedes and explore their lair to find mystical objects left by former pilots. Upgrade your aeroplane with unique items to improve your chances in this modular card game.
Cave Pilot 55 is based on the Arcade computer game Zeppelin (Atari, Synapse Software) from the early '80s. Relive the experience of the good old days and run the gauntlet in this thrilling tabletop card game.....

All players collectively contribute to the creation of the cave, allowing endless variations in cave layout, each with their own strategy. The whole game offers many possibilities for customization and a high replay value. You can determine the game length and difficulty by customizing the cave deck. Cave Pilot 55 can be played in a solo, cooperative, competitive and teamplay mode. Various expansions are available, such as faction cards, huge flying beasts and themed sets. This is what you can find in your Cave Pilot 55 box:
Production will start with full-colored standard cards (300gsm greycore) & cardboard mats (2 mm thickness), plastic dice (16x16x16 mm), wooden cubes (8x8x8 mm), wooden cylinders (10x10x10 mm) and punchboard tokens (bat-planes (+ stands), credits and first player token). Our aim is to upgrade these components to a better quality depending on the stretch goals achieved.
During the set up, players choose the length and the difficulty of the game, by customizing the cave card deck. The number of cave cards determines the length of the game. The level (e.g. yellow or orange) and composition of the cave cards determines the difficulty of the game.
Each cave card has its own unique setting and characteristics:
At the start, only the cave entrance is placed. Later during the game, the cave is created by the common effort of the players. Ultimately, the players have to fly their bat-planes through the cave and race eachother. The goal of the game is to finish alive and to gain reputation during the race. To prepare for the challenges they encounter during their race, players must upgrade and customize their bat-plane with technological aids.

In a game that makes use of the larger sized monsters, the cave is slided outward to create a small corridor. This corridor can be used to place these oversized cards and move them if necessary, without interrupting the cave layout and visibility.
Lets make this game even more fun and generate some stretch rewards. We have prepared several unique cards that add a little extra flavor to the game. But foremost all, we value high quality board games, and aim to upgrade the quality of the cards, as well as the components.

We want to be transparant about our shipping cost. We are planning to ship our games with Ship Naked: "Simple, affordable shipping for all". They are very experienced in shipping Kickstarter tabletop games and their rewards, using various hubs all over the world. Unfortunately at this moment there is no clarity about a new Australian hub that is going to be operational in the near future. That is why we have decided to ship to Australia and New Zealand via the USA.
We have also decided to include part of the shipping cost (8 euro) in the pledge. In the table below, you can find an overview of the shipping costs for various countries.
Making a pledge is simple, just choose a pledge level and press the button. The relevant shipping costs are automatically added in the pledge manager.

Risks and challenges
We are not perfect and set backs will surely occur, but we have done our utmost best to reduce the project risks to a minimum:
1) We have done over 250 test rounds with various gamer communities, and have visited many game fairs. Game mechanisms have been tested and adapted for more than two and a half years now. The game has reached its maturity.
2) We are close to finishing the game (95%) and the vast majority of the art has been produced (95%). Expanions have been tested and improved over and over again.
3) The rule book has been written, revised and reviewed, but probably needs a last round of editing and typesetting
4) We have contacted Panda Game Manufacturing and WinGo games and both are the most serious candidates to produce this game if we collect the funding.
5) The estimated delivery date is April 2017. Keep in mind that due to logistics of international shipping, backers in different regions of the world may receive their products and rewards sooner or later then others.
