Bamboo Shoo was designed with one objective in mind: replace socks. The insoles are made of a top layer of Bamboo fabric bonded to a bottom layer of bamboo charcoal.
Because bamboo’s natural habitat is typically humid and therefore teeming with bacteria and other microbes, the bamboo plant has developed “a substance called bamboo-kun – an antimicrobial agent that gives the plant a natural resistance to pest and fungi infestation.” (Wikipedia)
Both layers of Bamboo Shoo Inserts contain kun, the natural enemy of bio-elements that make sweaty feet problematic and ruin good shoes.
Finding the right eco friendly process for the bamboo that kept all of the defensive, shoe-preserving properties of KUN was our goal. The process we use allowed us to create a natural bamboo product that is very thin, flexible and super effective at finally stopping the real cause of shoe damage and foot odor.
Bamboo Shoo allows you to confidently rock sockless fashion without the sockless consequences or white powders. Additionally, it'll help your shoes last longer.
Each Bamboo Shoo is printed with sizes on the underside and can be trimmed to fit any sized foot or shoe.
HOW MANY SHOULD I GET?
The Bamboo Shoo's lifespan will depend on how hard you're working it. Check out the graphic below for a guide to how long they'll last and what it'll take to get you through the year.
Bamboo Shoo is comprised of two layers of Bamboo material. The top layer is 100% bamboo fabric, which is adhered to a second layer of 100% bamboo charcoal. To create the fabric, bamboo is first processed to produce a yarn and then woven and dyed. The fabric is bonded to the bamboo charcoal layer and then cut to the correct size and shape. Following this step, each pair of Bamboo Shoo will be packaged and sent by the manufacturer to our facility, where we will sort each unit, package for shipment, and send to our backers.
Funds that we will raise on Kickstarter will go toward placing our first order with the factory. The pictures displayed on this page are the final samples we have received from a production factory we've worked to build a strong relationship with. The factory will immediately move forward with the production as soon as our Kickstarter ends.
One month later, we will receive the order from our manufacturer, we will then have our team take over quality control and shipping the rewards to the respective addresses (to be collected after the Kickstarter campaign ends).
We've gone through numerous prototypes both of our own making and with our manufacturer to nail the Bamboo Shoo, and feel that we've arrived at a solid product that you'll love.
Risks and challenges
The process of refining the design and bringing bamboo shoo to market has been underway for nearly over a year and includes several prototypes - which we've been using :)
In addition, we have spent months vetting manufacturers and outlining the production logistics so that bamboo shoo will reach you (dear backer) on schedule. We understand that, there can often be hiccups with manufacturing, so we've left a little time cushion and hope to have the bamboo shoo reach you (dear backer) sooner.
That said, manufacturing and fulfillment is a complicated process and things can go wrong. If this project succeeds beyond our expectations, we will have storage and velocity challenges, and the timelines may be affected. Also, our suppliers and manufacturers may experience delays should we need to produce much larger quantities than expected. In such a case, we will be transparent and communicative about the production process.
In sum, our prototypes are finished, our manufacturer is ready to go, and our team is ready. Help us make this happen!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
