Twenty year-old bed-sit Brian lives in a city and is obsessed with Jan, the girl downstairs. He would love to ask her out, but she already has a boyfriend; a drug-dealing and abusive man who doesn’t treat her right. Brian tries to stand up to him and win Jan’s love, but his mental health makes it difficult for him to distinguish what is real and what is not. In the end, Brian gets to be with Jan.....but in what condition?
Why We Need You:
We need your help to get this project on its way. We are currently in pre-production and are in need of funding! We want to give you our best and create a film that is not only interesting but unique to other shorts out there. From your generous funds we will be able to have the budget to create a high quality film that showcases our creativity and our vision. We believe in our script and the potential our film has to feature in festivals. We would love for everyone to be part of our journey and any funds - however big or small - would be much appreciated!
The contributions will go towards paying for professional actors, locations, the art department (props, costume, make up, set dressing), music, transportation, catering and contingency. The diagram below will give you a visual aid on the estimated percentage of each department along with a rough idea of where the funds will be allocated.
The Crew - Who We Are:
DIRECTOR - DIOGO GUERREIRO
Born and raised in Portugal, Diogo is a creative and ambitious film student studying at Falmouth university. He brings passion and determination to every project and is excited to be working on ‘Chimera’ as the director. He has worked on a variety of projects from shorts to music videos - all of which has given him valuable insight into the filmmaking world and the challenges and successes that comes with it. As a huge music lover himself, he believes that “the key to this project’s triumph will lie within the soundtrack”.
PRODUCER - LY ANN FOSTER
Originally from Vietnam, Ly Ann is a dedicated and reliable crew member, friend and film student who has a genuine passion for filmmaking. She enjoys maintaining professionalism on and off set but knows when to crack a few jokes from time to time. She is well-versed in several aspects of filmmaking but has always felt a strong connection and tie for producing. She has interned with K-films on TV series such as Prison Break and Deep State, but has worked with other production houses around the world as well – France and Vietnam to name a few places. This has only fuelled her love for producing even more and she is thrilled to be part of this film as the producer.
CINEMATOGRAPHER – THEO CORDERY
Theo grew up in South London, being exposed to many different forms of visual media including photography, theatre technology, immersive art exhibits and cinema. On arriving in Falmouth he found a love for producing and cinematography, splitting his time between to two and honing his skills in both. Theo is passionate about bringing this project to life as cinematographer and believes that the script will give a huge amount of room for experimentation. Through this project he hopes to build a visual world that will be suited to the film and enhance the work of the other members of the crew ensuring that everyone is given the ability to shine.
ART DIRECTOR – HANNAH MINGAY
Hannah is currently in her second year of BA Film at Falmouth University. Although Hannah has not done production design before, she is excited to see what she can bring to this production in terms of costumes, props and set design. Having mainly worked as the producer on previous film projects for her degree at university, she will take what she has learnt and try to hone and further her skills branching out into the art department. She loves the script and is keen to be part of ‘Chimera’ as the art director.
EDITOR – MORRIS PUSEY
Born in Germany and raised in South London, Morris is an ambitious filmmaker looking to extend his experience in the field. After working on various roles in productions at Falmouth University, he is hoping to apply and build on his editing skills for this production, ‘Chimera’, drawing inspiration from a Wes Anderson colour palette and snappy French New Wave jump cutting style.
SOUND DESIGNER - JOE SNELL
Growing up in Dorset, Joe’s interest in filmmaking sparked when working on a project for the “From Script To Screen film festival”, adapting Tracy Chevalier’s novel Remarkable Creatures. Since beginning his studies in film at Falmouth University his interest has evolved from an interest in Directing into a keen passion for sound design. Through his pursuit for projects as a sound designer his passion is only developing, growing more confident and becoming consumed by his role. He is excited to be part of this team as editor and is looking forward to playing with many different sounds in the process.
GRAPHIC DESIGNER - DORIAN PIRONNEAU
"Born near Paris, Dorian is a passionate graphic designer fascinated by Cinema. The films of Andrei Tarkovsky, Werner Herzog or Sergei Parajanov are his main sources of inspiration in the humble projects he makes, from posters to album covers, short films or visual identities." He is excited to be part of the team as the graphic designer and is looking forward to designing posters that will be used both for the set as well as for it's release.

Risks and challenges
Our main challenge for this film is our time constraint. Our ambition makes it quite tricky to accomplish everything we want against the clock. In order to combat this challenge, quite a lot of work needs to be done in the pre-production stage so that during our shooting week and post-production stage we can be as efficient as possible.
Another potential challenge is making sure that the two worlds that revolve around the main protagonist are portrayed in a manner which is understandable to the audience. With the help of editing and the art department we can make sure that Brian's perception and reality merge seamlessly into one film.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
