About

With your support, we aim to recapture the intense action of these groundbreaking games and then take it to a whole new level…
After listening to our backers and our community's overwhelming response we are adding a short single-player (i76 style) campaign to the game. The campaign will be included in the initial funding phase and can be expanded through stretch goals. Pick your faction, learn your skills and determine your destiny through this single-player campaign. We will give more details in the updates to come. Thanks for all your feedback and support.
We are pleased to release our first gameplay teaser. This is actual in game footage from the current build of the game and that's Maxx and Mike playing over the internet in the video. This is work in progress, and there is lots of work to be done, but we know the game will look at least this good!
The prototype includes: deformable damage models, rockets and machineguns, localized damage and is 10 player internet playable. The cars featured are the Attacker and the Marauder.

MotorGun will weld real world car physics and a diverse set of realistic cars to a set of amazing weapons systems of all kinds. It puts you in control of a deep set of customization elements - from paint to payload, it's all up to you. As you play you'll advance and be exposed to an ever-deepening set of vehicle tech-trees, blowers, turbos and sway bars - heat seekers, miniguns and rocket pods. Try you hand in multiplayer combat in the wasteland. To the victor goes the spoils. It's the culmination of over two decades of car combat video game pedigrees and it's commin' at you at wide open throttle.

In a post-apocalyptic future, warriors drive to survive in their tricked out, heavily armed vehicles scavenged from the blistered landscape and equipped with a deadly array of lethal weaponry.
Get behind the wheel of more than twenty unique vehicles which are divided into three warring factions - the Ratters, the Scavengers and the Techies.
MotorGun features team-based goal-oriented combat in a variety of open battlegrounds from abandoned cities to dried-up riverbeds. Assemble your team, choose your tactics, select a vehicle from your roster and dive into battle in adrenaline-pumping game play modes including Convoy, Capture the Flag and Salvage.
Victory has its rewards – gain experience and scrap metal in order to unlock access to upgrades, customization and new more powerful machines.
Build your crew from driver to gunner all of your people can gain experience and help you in your cause. Your mechanic will also play an important role.

The cars can receive a wide variety of upgrades as you progress along an extensive tech tree – from performance modifications to the drivetrain and suspension – to a broad array of powerful weapons, protective armor and countermeasures which can be bolted-on to build uniquely equipped vehicles.

Strip the armor from your vehicle and drop in a more powerful engine to make it light and fast but also fragile, load it up with heavy artillery but sacrifice speed and maneuverability, or bolt-on a dozer plow and thick armor plating to make a formidable rammer – the choice is yours.
You can also customize the paintwork and add decals in order to show your team allegiance and express your unique style.
Due to the deep customization system, every car in MotorGun will be unique!

Pixelbionic is an independent video game developer located in Southern California co-founded by Michael Maxx Kaufman – a founding member of InXile Entertainment and Gray Matter Interactive, one of the Directors of Return To Castle Wolfenstein, Kingpin: Life Of Crime,The Bard’s Tale and Redneck Rampage, and Mike Arkin – a highly experienced Studio Head and Producer credited with over 150 published titles, including Die Hard Trilogy, Battlezone and the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series.

Born from a shared passion for dystopian movies such as Mad Max and Death Race 2000 and the classic games Twisted Metal and Interstate ’76, our objective is to combine the vision of a talented team of experienced developers with the enthusiasm and support of a vibrant gamer community in order to set a new standard for online vehicular combat games.

A small selection of games developed by members of the MotorGun team.

The 1992 US Olympic Men’s Basketball squad might have coined the term Dream Team – but in order to create MotorGun we decided to follow along the same idea! We’ve managed to bring together our very own Dream Team which includes the most influential and successful vehicular combat designers of all time: David Jaffe (creator of the Twisted Metal and God Of War series) and Zack Norman (creator of Interstate '76) are key members of the team steering the game's creative vision.

But we didn’t stop there… Scot Kramarich – Lead Designer on Interstate ’82, Designer on Interstate ’76 and Senior Producer on Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is also on board for the ride!
Other key members of the MotorGun team include coder Rafael Paiz – Senior Programmer on The Matrix: Path Of Neo and Lead Programmer on Redneck Rampage, Kingpin Life of Crime and Return To Castle Wolfenstein, and designer Tomo Moriwaki – Producer on Medal Of Honor 2010, Designer on Call Of Duty: Finest Hour, and Creative Director on Spider-man 2.
Last, but by no means least, we have Chanel Summers – by day a video game rock star whose experience ranges from high-performance 3D vehicle simulations to pioneering work on multiplayer online combat games – and by night an actual rock star who has recorded and performed with numerous headlining artists, and will be MotorGun’s creative adviser on all things audio.

No Publisher, No Compromises!
We believe that there is a significant audience of PC gamers who have always loved auto combat games…just like us! Unfortunately, most games publishers aren’t excited about making PC games, and many of the titles released are just basic ports of their marketing-led console games. We know they’re dismissing a huge part of the gaming community and that there is a large audience of gamers who want high quality, exciting games designed from the ground up for the capabilities of their PC.
Thanks to Kickstarter, we can cut out the middle-man and go directly to the community to bring to life the game we’ve always wanted to build – and that doesn’t just mean a financial contribution – we’re actively looking to involve the community in the design and development process on our dedicated developer’s forum, hand-in-hand with some of the most influential and successful creative legends of the genre.

THE FACTIONS
In the aftermath of the apocalypse, three warring factions rose to prominence in the battle to control the scarce resources needed in order to survive in the unforgiving environment that remained. Each of these groups banded together in loosely affiliated gangs based upon the type of vehicles they drove. All the cars are cobbled together from whatever components can be salvaged, fabricated or kludged together using the materials and tools available.
Over time, the specific origin of the factions has become steeped in mythology, with tales of incredible vehicles and powerful weapons long since lost, although many believe that they have simply been hidden away, ready to be discovered and unlocked so that they might drive and do battle again.
Although the founding members of the factions are now part of folklore, new members continue to pledge their allegiance to one of the three groups, continuing to form new Chapters of their own to carry on the battle for supremacy.

"Faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death." - Hunter S. Thompson

MotorGun utilizes an archetypal RPG-based three class system – Light, Medium and Heavy. Within each of the three classes, vehicle specifications can be upgraded according to their individual attributes, available weapons slots, and capacities.
Weapons and Customization
Success in battle has its rewards, and you can use those rewards to upgrade your vehicles and acquire new ones. Your vehicles are ever-evolving machines – develop skills to research and acquire upgrades and enhance their capabilities.
As you gain experience and progress through the game you unlock new upgrades to the vehicles. Upgrades are divided into four main categories:
Performance: Upgrade or replace the engine, suspension, tires, and other components to improve your car’s speed, agility, traction and handling.
Weapons: Upgrade your existing weapons and equip new types of weaponry to the standard mounting points:
- Machine Guns High rate of fire, low damage
- Auto Cannons Medium rate of fire, medium damage
- Rockets High damage, explosive
- Flamethrowers Short range, medium damage, sets vehicles on fire
- Ram Plate Improves ram damage
- Scoopers Displaces or flips enemy vehicles
- And many more
Armor & Countermeasures: You can bolt on thicker armor plating for additional protection from incoming fire. Defensive countermeasures such as smoke screens and anti-missile flak can also be added.
Visual Customizations: Upgrade your paintwork and add decals to show loyalty to your faction and also express your individual identity.

“Take all you can. Fight to keep it!”
The world of MotorGun is founded on this principle and the game play modes will reflect it.
- Convoy: Take and protect resources in dramatic escort scenarios
- Salvage: Focus on disabling your enemies rather than destroying them outright in order to earn resource bonuses
- Capture The Flag: Classic “protect and capture” scenarios
You are part of a team. Rally your comrades to devise a battle plan and assign roles according to your individual strengths and skills. Choose a vehicle from your roster according to your role, then move out and engage the enemy factions. Scout, rush in like a berserker, exploit flanks and weaknesses, run block as a sniper or find your own way to support your teammates to help lead them to victory.
- Team-based, Goal-oriented Matches: Throw yourself into epic battles, bumper to bumper with other vehicles, to vanquish players across town, or across the world
- Counterstrike-style Matches: Destroying enemy vehicles removes you from the match, but when destroyed, you need not wait for the match to end. If you want to continue playing simply select another vehicle from your roster jump straight into another skirmish

MotorGun will engage players in action-packed vehicular brawls with equal parts shooting and mêlée combat. The frenetic high-octane multiplayer battles take place across a range of diverse tactical environments. From the open desert terrain to a burned-out abandoned city, each location will be designed and built to enhance game play, from all-out combat to team-based strategic assaults.

So by now you know that we’ve got a great Team primed and ready to create a adrenaline filled vehicle combat experience.

Put simply: We need you.
We need the fan base that we know is out there to rise to the challenge and support this campaign financially in order to bring MotorGun to life. But more than that, we want our backers to become actively involved in the development of the game from the start:
- Have your say by joining the discussions on our online forums
- Contribute your own design ideas and suggestions
- Give feedback on new content and features to the development team
- Participate in live online Q&A sessions with the team
- Vote on key creative decisions with the community
This is an incredible opportunity to not only help us get
the opportunity to develop the game we want to make, but to get directly
involved and help make the game you
want to play.

So get the arc welder out, fire up your blowtorch and let’s make an amazing game together!

We need to raise $650,000 to fund our experienced team and do this right. To build the game we all want from the ground up we will be creating three classes of vehicles and all their weapons, armor and upgrades, entirely original post-apocalyptic environments, as well as implementing the game play modes, vehicle physics, visual effects and online match-making. We also intend to create top-quality sound design and music. From the beginning, we’ve structured the project with a flexible budget and scope in mind, so if we reach our initial funding target, we have a list of great content and features waiting in the wings which we can add into the mix through a series of Stretch Goals.

Any additional funds we raise beyond the initial $650K will go towards implementing Stretch Goals. This will enable us to build extra in-game content such as single player campaigns, new environments, vehicles, weapons and upgrades available at launch, as well as additional play modes and functionality. Because we want MotorGun to be a truly community-focused collaborative project, we are also engaging with our campaign supporters to ensure that any additional Stretch Goals are representative of their wishes.

Risks and challenges
We are aiming for nothing less than a AAA game experience. The only variable is the scope of the initial game release, which depends on the funding level reached. Nonetheless, even with our very limited self-funding we have been able to do a lot of work which is why we can show you more than just concept art. We have an extensive multiplayer test bed. So, we are confident that even with limited means we will be able to deliver an amazing experience.
