Dev Bios, Kicking It Forward and Rhyfel Tips!

Posted by Jeff Almeida (Creator)

Jeff Almeida Bio

Jeff Almeida, currently an independent software engineer, has recently accepted a full time position with a large credit card processing company and will be joining their ranks in May.He has been in the IT services industry for over 20 years, focusing primarily on Microsoft products and business software development.

Jeff’s passion is torn between being a serial entrepreneur and gaming. The idea of starting a business is as entertaining to him as playing the latest RPG or MMO.It was only a matter of time that he sought a way to combine those two passions into one, and start on the road toward his dream. His inspiration was provided by great games like Civilization, Ultima Online, Everquest I & II, Eve Online and countless other MMO’s.

A few years ago, he joined up with Justin Thomas to start a game development company Online Imagination (OI) as a hobby.Right now, OI’s main focus is Rhyfel, an ambitious MMO strategy game about corporate domination in a world where government has collapsed.Jeff’s vision for Rhyfel is to create a player-driven economic game where players define their own destiny in a shared, sandbox world.

In addition to OI and Rhyfel, Jeff spends the rest of his free time with his wife working on another company that provides game accessories to the role playing game industry. The company’s name is Alea Tools. (www.aleatools.com)

Justin Thomas Bio

Justin Thomas has been a software developer for over 25 years, the last five of which have been at a major credit card processing company. He has worked in a variety of industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, finance, utilities and trading.

While most of these have been business applications he has always been drawn to the more creative side of programming and has always wanted to build a game.

Several years ago, he and Jeff Almeida formed a company called Online Imagination, the primary focus of which is the development of computer games. After a few false starts including a foray into the world of iPhone development, they finally settled on Rhyfel, an MMO strategy game.

Justin spends most of his free time, while not busy working on Rhyfel, with his wife and children.

If you wish to contact Justin, his email address is justin@rhyfel.com.

Kicking It Forward

http://kickingitforward.org

We are pleased to announce that we will be participating in Brian Fargo’s Kicking It Forward concept. It’s a simply wonderful idea that truly captures the spirit of the Kickstarter community by sharing success with the next entrepreneurs pursuing their dreams.Kicking It Forward is an honor system where successful Kickstarter campaigns agree to pledge 5% of their profits to other Kickstarter campaigns.

Rhyfel Tips and Tricks

1) You must log in every day and manually collect your salary, it is not automatically paid.Missing a day, will forfeit that day’s salary!

2) Daily salaries are significantly higher once you join up with a sponsor.Pick a sponsor right away to take advantage!

3) Keep your food supply full on each tile so that your population never starves.Starving your population will decrease your tile levels and you will eventually lose ownership of the tile!
