Thanks to everybody that's helped hit my target, now for:
DONE - £1000 or more - I will implement new features via the form of scripts to make the experience more immersive and fun. This would require hiring a scripter for the extra features. I would like to expand on the scripts I already have in progress and thats's the HUD and action battle script.
£2000 or more - I would like to hire an illustrator to create consistent artwork throughout the game. I would also like to hire/purchase some high quality ambient sounds and eerie musical tracks for the game. I believe this will add more depth to the game and credibility to the overall game and storyline. What I mean by "depth" is to simply create consistent looking artwork/sound profile so that the player gets SO absorbed into the storyline that they forget their playing a game.
Thank you for showing interest in my current game in development. I'm working very hard on this and I'm injecting as much creativity as I can muster into this title.
This will be available for: PC Only.
Your name is Jim (default name can be changed) and you've led a reckless life of crime resulting in spending 15 years in a maximum security prison. You've barely seen the light of day and visits from family have been minimal.
After 15 years of waiting your finally free. Your wife Janet picks you up from prison and takes you home to your new dream home (paid for by the proceeds of crime) in the sought after location of Lincshrop.
In the years you've been away your wife has spared no expense in equipping your home with the finest commodities and you long to see what these long, hard years spent alone have paid for.
Upon arrival you head straight to the bedroom, you spend an intimate evening with your wife only to wake up and she's nowhere to be found. Upon investigating it would appear she's been kidnapped, in a panic you head out with your trusty old 1911 pistol that's been kept locked away for years. You never thought you'd have to use this gun again. But you were wrong. You head off in search for the kidnapper only to find your idyllic town has been thrown into hell, chewed up by satanic demons and spat back out. From this point onwards the adventure begins.
(I would reveal more but I would like to keep the key plot lines/events a secret until the game is at least 80% complete, merely for data protection.)
-Old school RPG look and feel - I'm a fan of all game genre's however 2D games will always stay in my heart. I'm looking to create a stunning game with beautiful visuals, all developed in the style of games we all grew up with.
-Dark, atmospheric, tense gameplay - I cannot stress how much focus and energy I've put in to find the best quality music, resources, I've even had to resort to recording my own sound effects and have been out with my camera taking photographs for inspiration.
-Action RPG gameplay - Reminiscent of games such as Zelda. But with guns. Who doesn't like Zelda?
-HUGE OPEN WORLD - The game world is far from small, it going to get much bigger. Don't get lost!
-Survival Horror Gameplay. - True Survival Horror reminiscent of the old style PS1 games. Ammo must be used wisely, you will acquire more powerful weapons throughout the game that will rival the enemies/bosses you will have to face. This will make your experience manageable, but by no stretch of the imagination easy. Can you remember those classics from your childhood? I certainly do and I miss them.
-New Game+ - People like a game with replay value. This will have just that, you will carry over certain items into your next game, however the game will not hold your hand (survival horror remember?). You the player will get to keep any ammunition, health packs, weapon upgrades you've acquired throughout your previous play through, to allow for a fun, exciting second play through.
-Clever fast travel system. - I understand many gamers like the option to fast travel. You can travel in your car but you must first find the keys. Where could they be? However, there's a twist and the fast travel system will not make the game any easier, as you cannot travel unless you return to your car. Where did I park that thing?
-Intricate story line. Plenty of plot development, back story revealing key plot lines, character history and strong character development. This will be achieved in a more unique way from traditional 2D RPG's you've likely played at some point, I do not feel watching 15 minute long cut scenes between game play is relevant for this title. I want the player to explore and discover this by themselves. Be careful it's dangerous out there.
What your contribution will go towards:
Basically, as I'm looking to develop my game to the highest standards possible I'm currently seeking to hire professional sprite artists to help create at least 20 different monsters, multiple NPC characters and intersting in game objects for my game. Any spare cash will be spent on other resources to ensure the BEST possible quality. I have considered commissioning for work myself but due to real life (Man I love paying bills!) I'm unable to spend too much of my own money. (Which is a shame!)
In a nutshell,
You're helping me to create a much more professional game with the LOOK and FEEL a quality Horror RPG should aspire to be.
You will be helping to create the immersive, tense world I'm looking to develop as I will be able to concentrate solely on the game development side of things allowing me to ensure ALL features within the game get the attention they deserve and I hope this will ensure the game is unique, memorable and I hope to see this shine in all it's blood covered glory.
Another Gameplay Video?
It's a bit lengthy but you get a sense of the atmosphere I'm looking to achieve with this game. I hope you can see the amount of effort I've put in so far and I hope you guys would be happy to back this game.
Risks and challenges
There are no real risks as such as I'm developing this on a part time basis whilst working full time. I spend a LOT of my free time developing this game, I love this game, I love what this game could be and I hope you guys come to love it too!
This is my passion that I'm turning into a potential business and I seek your support:- Like minded horror enthusiasts that long to play a unique game with a strong, memorable story.
MY MAIN CHALLENGES SO FAR:
I'm confident in my abilities to create this game however, I'm not a sprite artist and doing all this myself this takes up a lot of time that could be spent creating a better quality product. This would enable me to spend more time making the game, and less time creating ALL the resources myself. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and once I start something, I do not stop until I create what I'm looking to design.
I would like to take a moment to Thank You! for checking out my project.
I hope you can see my vision, and see that my goals are clear and focused.
I hope I've inspired you as much as horror has inspired me. It would be brilliant to receive the support from the community to help this game grow into something special, a game I feel it deserves to be.
