I just wanted to write as soon as possible and say huge thanks to all who have backed this project. It's been a tremendous response and I've been touched by each and ever donation that have been made. It's been great to see the spread of people from around the world as we've had donations from all over Europe, Northern America, Australia and New Zealand.
There will be more soon! Kickstarter is processing the information and I understand that within two weeks I will receive the full list of backers plus the rewards you've requested and (for those who've selected CDs or sheet music) your postal address. I'll be writing to everyone once I have this information so you'll have an idea when your rewards will be winging their way to you.
In the meantime - today is the first day of the recording. The piano was delivered to the Ruddock Performing Arts Centre yesterday afternoon and our piano technician spent some time tuning it whilst Adrian Hunter, our producer and engineer started to get all his equipment set up. Steven and I arrived in Birmingham as well last night and we're meeting up in about an hour to get going.
After Ed has tuned the piano (older pianos need regular TLC) we'll spend some time working with Adrian to get the mikes in exactly the right place and ensuring that we have the best possible sound on the recording. It's better to spend time working on this than to spend hours after the recording is over fiddling with the sound artificially.
Today we've got on our schedule the Fantaisie brilliante sur une motife de Norma (those of you who are supporters from Malvern will remember this from Monday), the Fantaisie sopra un motivo dell Bianca e Fernando (those of you who are supporters from the course in Melbourne will remember this) plus, hopefully, get onto the Troisième Mélodie sur La Somnambula as well.
THANKS THANKS THANKS! What a wonderful way to start this project.
More updates soon....
