$4650 - A digital copy of issue three for everyone that backed $9 and above!
$5550 - A print copy of issue three for everyone that backed at $20 or above!
$6050 - T-SHIRTS!!! Howl t-shirts for everyone that backed us at $60 or higher plus a new $60 t-shirt tier so all our existing backers have a chance to snag this killer apparel. Check our latest update for a preview of the design and more info!
$7250 - Issue FOUR Digital - I can't believe I am even typing this, but if we get to $7250 we will be able to fund the art for issue four and get a digital copy out to everyone that backed us for $9 or above. That would be four issues for $9 - that is some serious value!
What is Howl?"What if instead of a zombie apocalypse, we wrote a werewolf apocalypse," joked Eastin.
From day one we wanted to write a ripping, action packed werewolf story, but we always knew that at its heart Howl is a distinctly human story. It is a story about relationships and making sense of a world where the rules have changed overnight.
Plus, you know, gigantic murderous werewolves.
Howl is a stand alone, character focused, six issue arc. This Kickstarter will make the first two issues a reality. We really hope that you will join us for the ride!
"Howl is a fresh take on an old story." - All-Comic.com
"...this isn’t another post-apocalyptic world of grey misery you have to trudge through; our dude’s a history teacher at a school full of normal-seeming teenagers (who are monsters to begin with, lycanthropy or no)." - ModernBorefare.com
We funded the digital edition of issue one out of pocket. When we saw how gorgeous it looked, we knew there needed to be a print edition. That is where we need your help! Together we can make art and catapult the story forward with a second issue as well!
Breakdown of Costs
Pay our Artist - $1200 - This portion goes to Danny B and allows us to provide this clever creative the page rate that he deserves!
Printing and Binding - $1400 - Local heroes Mid Island Bindery will print up those books on high quality stock and saddle stitch them with care! Gorgeous!
Shipping - $500 - Cost depends on location, but unless you are all in New Zealand our model says this should cover it.
Kickstarter Fees - $350 - Death and taxes, etc.
What if you make more? Then it is stretch goal time! The first obvious goal would be to get issue three into the hands of our backers! But after that <redacted for being too awesome>.
About the Creators
Ryan Davidson is a recent father, mandolin enthusiast, and lover of the written word. In 2011 he launched Spaceship Long Island with Eastin, a webcomic that asked the question, what if Long Island was a spaceship?
By day, Eastin DeVerna works in international education, but by night, he is an avid comic book reader and creator. A few of his favorite things include spending time with his wife, gardening, traveling, and Superman shirts. He started making comics with Ryan in 2011 and has been at it ever since.
Dan Buksa splits his time between playing in bands and making art. He fell in love with comics after being handed Jack Kirby's run on the Fantastic Four by his dad. After that he was hooked.
Risks and challenges
We have already finished the digital version of issue one and run several test prints. We have a local printing and binding partner with whom we love working.
Having issue one in the bag makes us extremely confident that we can deliver issue two at the cost we have listed and within the timeframe listed.
The only possible delay would come from getting the art itself done, but again, having issue one complete, we feel confident that we are estimating the turn around time correctly here.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
