About this project
Thank you so much for checking out my Kickstarter page for Last Call.
Last Call takes place during one chaotic bar shift. Two worlds collide when our bartender's already needy and quirky customers have to fight for her attention while her unstable and borderline homeless mother barrages her with desperate phone calls. A typical day in a bartender's life is full of snap judgements and snappy comebacks, but as her patience is tried she realizes she must make a choice, or the phone will never stop ringing. It’s about family, it's about boundaries, it's about how much to tip.
To understand why I’m so excited about this project, please watch the above video I made because it will tell you all about the show and the talented people working with me to put it together!
Now that you’ve seen the video… here’s a few other things you might want to know…
Last Call starts rehearsal in Florida on March 12th and the show opens April 13th at Empire Stage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This theater specializes in offbeat comedies and has a great reputation for supporting alternative and new works. Last Call runs for four weeks, Thursday through Sunday, and closes on May 6th. How awesome is that?!
This is an inspired, enthusiastic and long overdue project for me. I’m super thrilled that this day has finally come! Here is specifically what I need your support for:
•The sound designer in New York- Phil Palazzolo.
•The sound designer in Florida- David Hart
•Graphic designer/illustrator for the logo and posters
•Living espenses in Florida
I’m incredibly grateful for the team collaborating with me (their full bios are on the sidebar):
1. Michael Leeds is directing and co-producing this piece. A few highlights from his career are: Swinging On A Star (Writer/Director, Tony Award nominated for Best Musical), Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah - The Songs of Allan Sherman (Drama Desk Award nominated for Best Director/Best Choreographer), and most recently he won the Silver Palm Award for Direction for his production of The Light at the Piazza at Broward Stage Door Theatre.
2. Phil Pallazzolo is doing the sound design. Most recently his work on Neko Case's album ‘Middle Cyclone’ granted him two Grammy nominations for Best Contemporary Folk Album, and Best Recording Package. He also produced/engineered on the New Pornographers albums "Challengers" and "Together". In theatre, he was the sound designer on “Escape from Bellevue: A Rock and Roll Odyssey” written and performed by Christopher Campion, and ran to sold out houses at the Village Theatre in the heart of Greenwich Village.
3. And you guys!! I dreamed big and thanks to the generous support and contributions of my friends, I hope to make it all come true and make you all proud!
