About

I interviewed people aspiring to bring India forward, making a difference everyday in their undertakings, sometimes facing challenges that are difficult to overcome and require a certain spirit and ingenuity. This film aims to inspire more Indians to make a difference and add value to this incredible country. A film for the Indian people, by a person from the Netherlands.

"In the documentary Made in India, Dutch filmmaker Andreas van de Laar investigates the Indian state of mind, unique traits and qualities that will be decisive for the country to increase the overall quality of life during this century. The country which is estimated to occupy 20% of the global population by 2050 faces many challenges. Environmental, cultural and economic constraints are daily for people in India. Yet, Andreas van de Laar found many people who turn these challenges into opportunities and found out that this is what is required for India in the upcoming decades. More people have to be aware of the opportunities in India and the impact that they can have using very frugal resources for inclusive growth.

Made in India follows (sustainable) entrepreneurs in the sectors of education, healthcare, urban-planning and agriculture, trying to facilitate the much needed inclusive growth for the large growing population. These portraits are intercut with in-depth interviews with academics, politicians and humanitarians, to give a holistic view of contemporary India. What is it like to live in India? Which radical changes are required to enable the country to turn the current growth-rate into prosperity for the majority? How do these heroic Indians deal with these challenges? How does Andreas van de Laar deal with his own challenges making this film travelling through India? This film is an exploration of (cultural) perception, innovation and inspires the viewer to think differently about India and their own place in the world."

Since I have shot the whole documentary by myself and I want to edit and premiere the film in India, I need your help to finish the project.

For the film to be as good as possible I need the feedback from the Indian people and therefore I need a very good Indian editor to work on the film with me, a sound-designer and someone to do a neo-classical score. Also I need a research-assistant to help me with stock-footage and verification of the story in the Indian context.

No big risks, I have shot the whole film already by myself. I will do my best to work with the best people I can find to make this project a success. I need a good editor, research-assistant, image-researcher (for stock-footage), a sound-designer, distributor and graphic designer. With your help, I can find the best people suited to help me :)
