What is Last Hand?

Last Hand is designed by the inspirations from games such as Dota 2, LoL and combined with card game concept. We simply tried to adopt the gameplay mechanics of Moba games which create a huge strategic set of control with card games' fun and casualty.

We also created a huge fantastic universe with a deep fictional background. The concept we tried to build was letting players to be not just attached to card’s numbers or specials while playing a card game but getting to know those characters and universe to finally become able to dream and communicate about inside of game.

Target platforms for Last Hand are Android, Windows Phone and iOS as a first step. The reason of targeting mobile platforms in the first place was that we define Last Hand as a mid-core game. It requires relatively shorter learning curve than PC games and able you to play it as short sessions during the day time. Yet, we believe that the game is easily portable for PC platforms also and if successful, we are strongly interested in porting to PC in the near future as a close stretch goal.

How to Play?

Last Hand offers the powers of 6 unique elements for each player with unique base values, heroes and artifacts.

  • Each player prepares a deck formed by 12 cards within the chosen element. 8 of this cards stand as main deck whereas 4 remains reserve.
  • Players develop and imply tactics as long as they can afford for mana while protecting their base.
  • You must destroy your opponent's base to win the game.

First thing to recognize in Last Hand’s gameplay is the corridor system. Slots in the gameboard grant different movement capabilities for players and generate new set of controls by forcing them to have dominance in the arena. Having the arena dominance in Last Hand is as important as your cards and powers.

There are no cards to be drawn from table in Last Hand. Although game includes characters with skills depend on chance, Last Hand tries to capture the idea of preparation for the battle and focuses on critical deck building rather than card drawing or randomness. The game is centralized around building your strategy before the match then execute directly with your cards available at your hands.

Cards have skills like Dota or LoL in Last Hand which might be active or passive. Passive skills are the skills that will be enabled as long as the card placed on board. Active skills can be defined as skills that being activated when player want to use it. Selective skill usage system could possibly be defined as rare in CCG genre.

Size of decks in Last Hand is really small with 12 cards compared to other card games. This deck limitation allows Last Hand to have a more dynamic shorter gameplay than other CCGs with selective deck building style.

Last Hand features 4 types of card each contain a different functionality:

  • Heroes are the main leading actors of game with high functional skills.
  • Artifacts grant variety of bonuses for specific elements with lots of different combinations.
  • Blessings and minions are the neutral cards for all elements in order to support your deck with low mana cost moves as complementary tactics.

Heroes are the primary focus in the gameplay of Last Hand. Each hero is unique in Last Hand with variety of skills and strategic focuses. There is no uniqueness categorization in hero cards and they are distinguished by their functionalities and impact of their abilities in different ways.

Each hero class is eligible for different strategies and combo possibilities in Last Hand. Centaurs are more likely to be the base of defensive earth decks whereas Treants are more likely to be the protector and healer of Nature decks

As Moba players are more likely to be familiar: Each hero has 2 skills on average which might be active or passive. Passive skills are the skills that will be enabled as long as the card placed on board. 

Active skills can be defined as skills that being activated when player want to use it. Usage of active skills generates a deeper strategy by allowing your timings.

Also, there is a special gift for the Kickstarter Backers! 3 mighty heroes of the Last Hand will be only available for Kickstarter backers and will not be available for sale after the official launch of the game.

Artifacts are stands as magical items that will empower heroes throughout the battle. Players will choose the artifacts for their selected heroes as a secondary focus to execute their strategy while building their decks. 

Another role of artifacts will be conducting surprise moves or countering against surprise moves during the battles. Artifacts are categorized by their crafted levels and there are 4 types: 

  • Crafted Artifact (black crystal - common)
  • Enchanted Artifact (gray crystal - uncommon)
  • Legacy Artifact (golden crystal - rare)
  • Ancient Artifact (purple crystal - epic)
Each element has different mentalities in terms of artifacts. Mana bonus artifacts for water allow players to spend more mana to gain regen whereas underworld's mana bonus artifacts grant advantage by element's fragility

Each element’s artifacts have different weights on certain type of functions such as: Block, Reflection, Disable, Recycle Card, Damage Bonus, HP bonus, Mana Bonus etc. Some elements have the mastery in certain type of functions while some have every function with more balance.

Blessing and Minion cards stand as neutral and will be available for each element while players building their deck. These cards require considerably low amount of mana while providing lesser functions and support.

Blessing Cards have the basic ability of artifact functions which are given for every element and originated from the stories and teachings of legendary characters and god figures from the lore of Ledei Universe. Minion Cards are mercenary creatures that could be hired for any element. Minions are only suitable for supportive role as they are weak in attack, hp and special.

Storyline of Last Hand has processed by looking ways over transfiguration of real world’s buried or nascenting cultures into fantasy world with inspired stories to share the message; in belief to lack of backstory and lore communication in CCG games.

Players will expose many different stories of Heroes, Magical Artifacts and teachings of Legendary Characters (exist as Blessing Card) in Ledei throughout their plays in Quest Mode. Also some parchments of old stories and hidden crafting recipes along with their tales will be delivered to the players as rewards from time to time.

Quest Mode

Although quest mode has always been at top priority in planning of this project, we had to compromise from production of Quest Mode in order to prepare a package of materials for Kickstarter with our limited budget. Without quest mode, our game is incomplete. We believe the difference line between raw and a complete Last Hand only becomes truly visible with Quest Mode’s entire work of art and story. Entire structure of the quests in general will be puzzle matches that will develop with the main story and many side story missions. Players will be able to collect dozens of cards and historical parchments art without any time limiter as they process in the quest. In design of these puzzle matches for some stages; we tried to arrange required use of some conditions as a tutorial and trainer.

Quest mode requires lots of coding and visual works which will require more budget than we have at this stage. In order to sustainably finance this project, we hopefully will wait your help to bring Ledei alive.

Crafting

Before explanation of crafting, we kindly remind you that all heroes will exist as single cards which mean player will not meet the same card once she/he had it as reward or be able to craft hero. Crafting will be about upgrading artifacts to grant more unique versions of them. It will get harder to upgrade artifacts as its uniqueness grows higher. Also some group of special crafting items will be given to players for either findable by themselves or build up when they get the recipe.  

Music

Shared music file below (Song of Hirochians) is acoustic demo recordings with many thanks to famous band from Istanbul; Kuan whom producing music in authentic genre, for playing with us. We are planning to make an album consists of 6 songs but made in professional studio; and by professional musicians.

We completed nearly more than half of the Last Hand until now and we covered 15.000$ from our own pockets for the project. Our Kickstarter goal specifically covers the amount that we need to finish for rest of the project and deliver it to you in best possible way.

Our Kickstarter goal specifically covers exactly what we need to finish the assets for the game. We covered everything that we showed from our own pockets and we’re covering everything else, such as licenses, marketing, and attorney fees out of our own pocket. We are at the half way of coding and artwork, and we need a kick to complete rest of the project. We need your help to give the game the polish it needs. Here’s a detailed breakdown of how the goal money will be spent:

Development: We finished the core mechanics of the game however there are still quite a process for bug fixing and polishing in terms of coding & development.  

Artwork: We need well designed user interface for our quest mode and better graphics & animations for gameplay.

Music and Sounds: The atmosphere we want to generate is closely attached with the music and sounds therefore; we want to do it in a professional way.

Polish & Improvement: Quality testing is what makes a game ready to meet with player. We want to deliver a trouble-free and smooth game for you.

Anda Games is a start-up company by three college students (Alper, Ata and Selim) from Istanbul, Turkey. All of us have been gamers since we were children. Also, we have pursued our education in various majors of Engineering and Business Administration therefore; we believe now is our time to create our own games.

What is Anda? In old Turkish, Anda means pact of brotherhood between three individuals. We selected this name because we see each other as brothers for many years and the company serves as our pact.

We always seek for inspirations that will shape our understanding of life and that will provide us better reasoning throughout our lives. We seek inspirations from people, art, games by any means that we always wanted to share. So, we decided our slogan as: “Reflects Inspirations”.

Detailed reward chart is given below for our backers. Backers will grant their beta keys in March 2016 as we are planning to run our first closed Beta in that time. Other rewards including packs will be available in April 2016 at the official release of Last Hand. 

Rewards that including creating & designing cards will start as soon as campaign overs so that we can meet our deadlines. There will be some set of rules and a mutual agreement on concept when designing cards so that both backer's idea and the game can be harmonized.

To clearly understand our pledge levels, you can check out the rewards separately. There is no shipping involved for our gifts except Printed Ledei Map. Map can be shipped to the Turkey, EU, Canada and U.S.

If we can manage to reach our initial funding goal, there are few other things that we would especially like to do for to bring Last Hand into a better shape.

$25,000 (35,000 CAD) – Game Mode: 2 vs 2 Game Mode and different arena for this game mode will be launched

$30,000 (42,000 CAD) – Professional Soundtrack: An album including 6 songs that has made by professional musician will be placed in game

Risks and challenges

As Anda Games, we must state that we are aware the risk undertaken by the backers is not low and we are deeply thankful to them for their stand. Reason behind the risk is that we don’t have any past reference to talk on our behalf as this is our first project at Kickstarter. In fact, lack of experience caused many troubles time to time through the project history. However, there is a chance that we are probably the most enthusiastic team you’ve ever came across in Kickstarter and nothing would make us more excited or happier than meeting with you here in Kickstarter.

Last Hand is not a fully completed project and we are not using Kickstarter as a promotion channel. We literally need your help to complete the project and bring Last Hand alive. For 8 months, we literally lived with Last Hand; there was no other thing we put our efforts in. Besides, for many times we had to make our way without budget by learning and hard work. We know what to do with the money we asked for. With your support, we will be able to work with specialized teams for some parts such as Animations and User Interface (UI) and will deliver you the best game possible.
