nom /'n-ah-m/ v 1 To eat and enjoy something tasty and delicious.2 The onomatopoeia for eating: om nomnom
Food should inspire joy. When you eat, it should be so delicious that you are compelled to close your eyes and revel in the flavor.
So many of us are missing that in our every-day lives; between work and school and feeding the kids and all the other things we have to do, we are not able to truly enjoy the food we eat. I want to change that, even if it's just a few bites at a time.
At some point in our lives, most of us have worked an 8-5 job, stuck in a cubicle, watching the clock tick slowly by. Sometime after lunch, maybe around 2:30 or 3:00pm, you start getting antsy, thinking a few bites of something sweet would satisfy you until you can go home and make dinner. While vending machines fill that void, they will never give you the satisfaction you're looking for.
So what IS nom*ables?
nom*ables is...dessert...only smaller. The idea behind nom*ables was formed while I was attending Oregon Culinary Institute. Whether you're watching your weight or you just want to TRY ALL OF THE THINGS, sometimes 2-3 bites is all you need.
The nom*ables trolley will be a hand-made, fully customized trolley loaded with small pastries. I will visit offices almost every afternoon to sell these delectable delights to the hard-working citizens who need a little pick-me-up to get through the afternoon crunch. **Due to my "day job" schedule changing, I will be putting off the building of the actual cart for a few months and concentrating on catering and office delivery (just like with the cart but with boxes instead).**
Sweet and savory catering will also be available for parties, meetings or just a treat. In addition, all of the pastries will be obtainable in more personal quantities through local ordering, and select items (such as cookies, brownies, cookie brownies, truffles and other candies) will be offered with mail order options.
What's the money for?
With the funding from Kickstarter, nom*ables will become a reality! A good portion of the money will go to the materials for a custom trolley and to this man
(This is Roy)
for designing and building it.
Some has to go to the boring stuff too, like licenses and insurance.
Then there are the more fun and interesting expenditures like marketing (psst..checkout my website www.nomables.net), ingredients, equipment and the rental of commercial kitchen space!
What's in it for you?
Why, noms, of course! Check out the rewards to the right and pick your favorite. Once this project reaches its goal, your chosen reward will be sent out as soon as possible. Not to mention, if you live in the Portland area, the nom*ables trolley will be available for office visits and catering!
Most of the rewards are designed to be shippable but if you live around here and want to change things up a little, we can certainly arrange something!
Don't forget, you won't be charged anything unless nom*ables is fully funded and the deadline ends. If we don't reach our goal, you are not obligated for anything.
Thank you so much for your interest and your pledge!
What happens if the goal is exceeded?
Any funds pledged that exceed the goal will be applied directly to making nom*ables even better. More specialized equipment, better marketing and operating costs.
