Battle of the Bands: World Tour Edition (Canceled)
You. Your Mom. A cute goth chick. A robot. This is your band, you're gonna ROCK!!! A card game for 2-6 players, all ages.
It's the game where YOU front your own rock band! Recruit band members, get instruments and make a reputation to become a powerful force on the tour. Use music biz cards to mess with your opponents while YOUR band gets signed and puts out hit singles, which are good to have when you play gigs! Monkey wrenches make the gigs epic and help modify the audience's reaction to your band! (Die rolls, fans can be fickle.).
"I had such a great time playing the game at BGG Con that I'm on board and getting copies to give to friends... " ~ Todd H.

Below are some reviews of the 2nd edition which came out in 2002
(The difference in game play between that version and this is we now have 2 decks to draw from, cards that reference the internet and a bunch of new cards with new abilities! )
"The theming of the game is both funny & well done. The whole game has a real rock & roll feel to it." ~ Shannon Appelcline
"All in all, our group found Battle of the Bands to be a lot of fun. It’s not a deep game, by any means, but it is an entertaining one that functions well as a filler-type game between your more “serious” games (though the game may be a tad bit too long to be considered filler for some). I recommend Battle of the Bands highly." ~ Brian Ridge
And the expansion, Backstage Pass
"Backstage Pass is an excellent addition to a very fun game. It cranks up the silliness level of Battle of the Bands up another notch, but as any fan of the game knows, that’s all part of the charm." ~ Chris Camfield
Battle of the Bands, the rock and roll card game, has been around since 2000. When we sold the last copy of the Encore edition, we decided it was time to update it for the new millennium. The look is different out of respect for our original producers, THIRD WORLD GAMES, and the game play has been slightly modified as per 15 years of input from our fans. You now have access to Band Members, Instruments and Reputations when you want them!!!
And we've made it all ages, it's still crazy but not embarrassing. If you want that, get the Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll expansion backer level!
The music scene has become a very different concept from when BotB was first produced and we want to reflect the Internet's changes on how we view music and bands.
There were times I wished I could have played at CBGB'S or the CAVERN CLUB, now, with the WORLD TOUR EDITION of Battle of the Bands, you can have those gigs and other milestone moments as part of your band's history!
The box will be 6" x 4.5" x 4.5", and will handle all of the cards printed!
Playing style: This game is about having fun, someone is going to win, but the interaction between players is what we're here for. Roleplaying you in your band vs the other bands is the way to play. (Example, you have MOM in play and some one takes her with a JOIN the BAND music biz card... dude! They just took your Mom! Who knows what instrument she's going to have to play now!!!) If you are just trying to beat everyone to win, M:tG is where you belong. (A great read and invaluable tome in getting deep into the BotB:WTE head is the Catalog of Cool . )
Sample turn: Playing a Gig card.
What's in the basic game?
140 cards (Every mini stretch goal we achieve will be included in the basic set, so there is a possible 215 cards in the basic set!)
Cheat sheet (Great for beginners!)
1 limited edition Battle of the Bands guitar pick to start your own band with!
and a box big enough to hold every Battle of the Bands card we make!
Even cooler, Botb:WTE will be printed in the USA, Los Angeles CA to be exact. I am proud to have found a company that is comparable, price-wise, to having it done overseas (the price in China may be cheaper but after shipping costs, tariffs and all the problems that come with dealing with non english speaking producers... it's a no brainer.) and I will be there, physically to oversee every step of production, so changes that need to be made will be made next day, not next week-ish.
Costs are higher here in the USA and that is reflected in the funding goals that are here. We are printing sheet fed offset which has an initially higher set up cost than digital... and it is a better quality product. The cutting, high die round cornering and collation of 140,000 to possibly 400,000 cards is expensive, so to counter this, our basic pledge goal is for a high quantity of funders at a low buy in cost. We all love a bargain, and the MSRP price of the basic set will be between $29.95 and $34.95 alone (depending on the card amount we finally reach.) S,D &R&R will be $14.95, Backstage Pass and Front Row Center will be $19.95 each.
So to get the value we have here, we'll need an enthusiastic funding base helping to get the word out. (Meaning lots of support. I have a career that doesn't rely on KS funding, all the $ goes into the game.)

Risks and challenges
I've done this before with the King of Crime: Bootleg Edition Kickstarter campaign. I faced the adversity of my printer bowing out just as we ended the campaign and I still got it to my backers before my promised due date. With this one, I have full control/knowledge of every phase of this campaign. My due date of May 2015 is padding (in case of earthquakes, a zombie apocalypse, etc.), we will get this on or before Feb 2015.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
