About this project
In 1962 while working for Treasure Chest, Joe was so thrilled doing the Story of Pope John XXIII, he sent pages of "Fantastic Four #6" Back to Stan Lee, because he did not have time to do all of them. In fact he pencilled and Inked The Story of Pope John XXIII by day and Penciled and Inked Thor by night, All while never missing his Son's athletic events or coaching sports teams. Joe is amazing.
This Story was broken up through several issues of Treasure Ches,t and being among Joe's most cherished works, Joe has always longed to see it in a larger, more complete format. The Story of Pope John XXIII is fascinating.
Angelo Roncalli was born to a working family in a very small poor villiage. one of 13 children, he overcame hardship to become one of the most loved Popes. His life was interesting, as he showed his affection to all people all the time.
Even the Nazis, allowed him to visit prisoners while he was in Bulgaia, he ministered to Catholics and Non-Catholics alike. When he was sent to Turkey the Bulgarian People were all sad to see him go, he was respected so much.
Joe's Story flow is spectacular as he illustrates, a wondrous story of a man's life, who was loved so by millions, that he had been made a Saint, on April 27, 2014. To commemorate this, Joe really wanted to print the story in a larger format, in one Beautifully done Hard Cover edition.
Mark Sinnott and I, Scanned each page twice, as they were to big for a large scanner. I stitched the two scans per page together. Once prepped, the files were ready for coloring. I put out a call for a colorists. Mike Deodato told me he had a friend that could handle the job well. Enter Leonardo Ito, currently in Japan. I showed Leonardo scans, and we came to a more classical look of comics, with a hint of modernism. Also we wanted to correct the original, to be as accurate historically, as we could get it. The original had been colored, but with not a lot of accuracy.
Joe Sinnott has been an artist his whole life, in fact, lets see a bit of his biography so you will see what I mean,
Joe Sinnott (born October 16, 1926, Saugerties, New York, United States) is an American comic book artist. Working primarily as an inker, Sinnott is best-known for his long stint on Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, from 1965 to 1981 (with a brief return in the late 1980s), initially over the pencils of industry legend Jack Kirby. Years before, he had inked Kirby's The Fantastic Four #5 (July 1962), the issue introducing Dr. Doom, plus a science fiction monster story in Strange Tales #94 (March 1962). In 1964 Joe was contacted by Brian Epstein to pencil, and Ink, the Biography for four lads from Liverpool, for a comic meant to introduce the BEATLES, who would be here in the United States in a couple of months. The book was the Dell Giant Beatles 64 page comic.
Joe has also produced art for many commercial ads, Record album covers, and logos, through the years as well of some very popular products. During his nearly sixty years as a Marvel freelancer and then salaried artist working from home, Sinnott inked virtually every major title, with notable runs on The Avengers, The Defenders and The Mighty Thor.
Marvel impresario Stan Lee in the mid-2000s cited Sinnott as the company's most in-demand inker, saying jocularly, "Pencilers used to hurl all sorts of dire threats at me if I didn't make certain that Joe, and only Joe, inked their pages. I knew I couldn't satisfy everyone and I had to save the very most important strips for him. To most pencilers, having Joe Sinnott ink their artwork was tantamount to grabbing the brass ring".
Here is a sample panel of Joe's work. This is a single panel of the coronation. Stunning panel.

Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges associated with this project.
Having Produced more then a dozen comics and trades as well as The inkwell awards books, and "Joe Sinnott's Inking challenge" books, for the past few years or so. I have worked with different printers around the globe, and know the pitfalls of publishing. By completing the pages for printing, before starting this project to shorten the waiting time for this book to be printed and shipped. I am in contact with the printer, and we have finished all the pages, scanned and out for them.
The books should be printed and shipped to us within 7 to 8 weeks tops, has been their average time.
The fulfillment end is should not be a problem. We will make adjustments for any foreseeable problems. If for any reason, Joe is not able to sign all or receive visitors in a timely fashion, We will make adjustments, or refund of money to those affected. We want to make this a great kick-start.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
