« Gather around orcs. The times of being servants to the evil Lords are over. We are no longer the punchbags of adventurers looking to become heroes. War is coming, and this time, it is humans who bring it to us. It is our turn to go on an adventure, spread mayhem and return as heroes! » - Gorbag the Ancient.
Orcquest Warpath is a co-operative board game for 1-6 players. You command a greenskin band that departs on an adventure through the lands and dungeons of their worst enemies, the humans. As always with orcs, unexpected events and some good brawls are on the menu.
Now an ALL-In Pledge available ....
Orcquest Warpath is a co-operative dungeon crawler. There is no Dungeon Master - who would want to be one anyway, especially when you get to be an Orc!
You command an orc band that is about to embark on some fantastic adventures. These adventures will take place in the form of single scenarios or a campaign mode, where you will get to enhance your characters and make them stronger as you go.
On their turn, your heroes can spend 2 Action points by using their available Skill cards. As soon as the Action of a Skill card is used, it must be turned face down until the beginning of the next turn.
In general, your Orc heroes will start the game with 3 Skill cards: 1 Movement, 1 Attack and a card specific to their Class. For example, in the case of Mek:
- His “Movement” card allows him to move 7 squares by spending 1 Action, or 10 squares by spending 2 Actions. The keyword Agile allows him to move diagonally.
- His “Combat” card allows him to attack with one of his weapons by spending 1 Action, or he can use both of his weapons by spending 2 Actions that allow him to do a boosted Attack.
- His special “Stealth” card provides him with a Permanent power. He can become Invisible at any time and not be noticed by his enemies, thus avoiding being a target.
Reminder! In OrcQuest the miniatures´ orientation is important and turning doesn´t cost Movement point, but can only be done after having moved.
On each turn, a new patrol may show up, following the Guard Path along the dungeon.
This shouldn't be an issue for "discrete" and "organized" orcs such as you, especially if you know their route in advance...
A dungeon crawler with no exploration is like an orc without a battle to fight, that is to say, a very sad thing. As soon as you open a door, you will find hidden surprises in the room, and from one game to another everything will change!
The box lid of the base game is used to recreate the room to be explored. Roll the dice indicated on the mission brief and place the Presence Tokens wherever the dice will land. Each of these tokens will reveal either an enemy, a treasure, a trap or many other pleasant or unpleasant surprises!
You can't want to be an orc and not know how to fight! And among Greenskins, power is way more important than the number of blows.
Each Hero or enemy possesses Life Points with a specific Resistance : Yellow heart = Weak, Orange heart = Resistant and Red heart = Tough and this is where hitting hard becomes important! Attacks also come in 3 colours: a Red sword breaks a wall, an Orange Sword will hurt and with a Yellow sword you will only hit a Peasant...
The more powerful your attack is, and the weaker your enemy's resistance is, the more damage you will do...
The life of an orc is tempestuous, and many unpredicted events may happen, sometimes for good, but most times for the worse.
As soon as a hero ends his activation, an Event card is drawn, and then... Anything can happen!
The more damage you do, the more Badass Points your group will get! You can spend these points to get additional actions which can be used during other player's turns, but most importantly, if you manage to hold onto them, you can unlock advanced skills for all the members of your group.
By smashing the skulls of enemies, and recovering their spoils, you will get Stuff - wood bits, metal bits, gold coins... With all these bits and pieces, the crafty orc in you will be able to improve your equipment!
Once all orcs have played, it's the humans turn to bring on the pain.
This will start with patrols. These are managed by a specific deck of cards that will determine what the patrols will do on their turn. Usually, a patrol follows a specific path, until they find an intruder... But sometimes, they are less predictable and they can inspect a room near them!
Once the Patrol has been activated, it is time to play the other enemies who are present in the scenario. Each enemy group will roll a die for their most powerful member, and the colour of the result will determine how the group will act according to their Enemy Sheet...
Obviously, the deeper you go into the dungeon - and the more corpses you leave behind - the more important the Alert Level of your enemies will become! If the result of this die is inferior to the Alert Level, you will use the colour of the Current Alert Level.
In the lands that spread over the Great Continent, there are five major races: the humans, the barbarians, the elves, the dwarves and the orcs. Throughout the centuries, alliances have been created amongst four of the races. As for orcs, there was never a peaceful time, due to their unpredictable, belligerent attitude.
As time passed, the human kingdom of Istarra started expanding by assimilating other human kingdoms around it, but that never fulfilled the conquering thirst of their lords. Orcs live hidden in the immense forests of the kingdom, only showing up for pillaging villages, laying siege on holdfasts or hunting intruders out of the woods.
Even though the Era of heroes has been gone for over a century, a new Era has come: the conquest Era. Wishing to further extend its frontiers, the kingdom of Istarra is now trying to conquer the forests inhabited by the orcs.
It's throughout these troubling times for Orcs that you will live the adventures of OrcQuest WarPath...
The humans who populate Istarra are arrogant, and they think they're the center of the world. Their multiple victorious conquests have allowed them to extend their kingdom and have given them a sense of invulnerability.
It's under the banner of the Royal Rooster that the army of Istarra marches towards their enemies. Soldiers obsessed with discipline and resilient knights are at the center of this military force. They have been the perfect target for some slapping and kicking by Orcs, for a long time.
The army of Istarra is one of the first ones to have ever used powder weapons, which has allowed them to have destructive, lightning fast victories against their opponents. Each officer is a merciless being who inspires obedience among their ranks.
Even if there are no renowned heroes left in Istarra, there is still a bit of the hero heritage left. Although the school of magic of the Great Royal Academy has been closed due to a lack of voluntary candidates, there is still Lothar, the Great Enchanter, descendant of the saviors of the realm, and known as the Hand of the King.
The royal zoo possesses a strange bestiary with creatures coming both from far away kingdoms and neighboring grounds. Huge fawns, titanic pachyderms, as well as bizarre water cows and different species of monkeys are living proof of the kingdom´s victorious quests. The favorite animal is the Cockatrix, a remote cousin of the royal rooster emblem. It symbolizes the egocentric expression of the kingdom of Istarra. The rooster can transform itself into a destructive conquering monster.

Daniel Zrom : so young and so talented. He gave life to the OrcQuest universe ! OrcQuest would have been more cartoony, but this artist has amazed the creators of OrcQuest so much that he redefined the game´s artistic direction! His talent has spread over to Dust 1947 of our dear friend Paolo Parente.
Loïc Muzy : dark and amazing, he has given life to Cthulu Horror and he had no fear of creating our heroes. Thanks to him, our heroes possess all the strength, deviousness and spirit of true orcs. He recently joined the team of Holy Grail Games.
Alexander Brick : Blacksmith of orc equipment,it´s thanks to him that our orcs can smash their enemies. He ensures that the weapons and armour of our orcs have unparalleled power. If one day, we will need help with designing space ships, he will be the ideal candidate.
Antal Keninger : ingenious illustrator of Black Scolls Games. His amazing tile designs, give life to our game! We like him so much that we waited for him to become available so that we could involve him in our project.
Carlos Amaral : One of Daniel Zrom´s friends and another unbelievably talented artist. We already worked with Carlos on our previous campaign as he was responsible for designing the rats and elves.
Helge C. Balzer : his profile image is an orc. He creates awesome looking monsters and to top that he is an adorable person. Each of his illustrations possesses a captivating aura withe a dark soul. Perfect for our orcs!
Olivier Trocklé : Graphic designer on our first game OrcQuest the Card Game, he managed to design the most badass OrcQuest logo ever.
Gaël Goumon : “Good morning Gaël, since you sculpt wonderful female characters we would like to present you to Thalla and Maridess…”. Talented scultpor on numerous ambitious projects (Dust 1947, Fallout, Deep Madness, and many others), we could not go without his participation in the project.
Fausto Gutierrez Lopez (GT Studio) : “Hi Fausto, we love the orcs you made for your studio and we would like to present you to Orrus…” He is also one of the talented sculptors behind Infinity miniatures. Since Yoann loves his wolfen warriors, we needed him to sculpt us some of our miniatures.
Victor Hugo : do not mistake with the author. This one is alive and sculpts way better ! Having worked mainly for Horde, he was an ideal candidate to work on our greenskins.
Hugo Basto Cunha and Arthur Michigan : our precious friends and allies. They have become Maze Games just like us. However, we do hope the whip marks will heal fast on their backs.
Risks and challenges
This is our second crowdfunding campaign. Despite the challenges encountered in our very first campaign, we successfully delivered our first game "OrcQuest The Card Game".
For OrcQuest WarPath, the core box is almost done and the other components are well advanced. We are making some final adjustments to ensure the game is perfect. The funding of this Kickstarter campaign will allow us to produce the game in its entirety.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A ZERO RISK PROJECT OR CAMPAIGN (just ask the Orcs). While this is not our first game of this type (we do love games with Orcs), there will always be unforeseen developments in manufacturing and logistics that are beyond our control, as we have learned in the past. That being said, unless we have a catastrophic meteor impact, a zombie apocalypse or other forms of Armageddon (holy and otherwise), we are pretty sure that, thanks to our previous experience, the game is well prepared and that we have chosen our partners wisely (manufacturers, printers, freight forwarders, distributors, etc.).
All pledges can be refunded up to 60 days before they leave the manufacturer, without question. If a refund is requested more than 15 days after the end of this Kickstarter campaign, penalty fees will be charged.
