An adventure packed, dramatic, romantic-epic, Lake Winfield is sure to show you something you've never seen before. Everything from revolutionary Africans (V) to 19th century interracial love (Shep and Tiller), even Native American Trans [or more traditionally; Two-Spirit] culture (Onawa), but we also expose what the history teachers never taught us about the evils of the slave trade (Colonel).
During season 1 (6 episodes), our heroes escape from the plantation. Shep and Tiller, two young friends who can't yet fully realize or acknowledge their love for one another, escape the plantation that they grew up on in a quest to find Shep's mother, Ira. Ira was recently sold to a sex crazed, money hungry villain named Colonel Collens. Will the boys reach Ira in time to save her life? Or will V, the famous and capable runaway leading her clan of Native Americans, come to their aid... and for what price?
How will the funds help?
The 30k goes towards preproduction/production/ and post production for the remaining 5 episodes. That leaves us with at least $6000 per episode for 5 episodes. This covers the cost for cast and crew, locations, food, equipment, and the amazing wardrobe and art work that helps to bring our audience into the 19th century!
With the Pilot completed and out of the way, we're looking forward to bringing you the rest of the season! We have 6 episodes total planned for season 1. Together we can make this a reality! If you get involved now, we will keep you updated with plenty of videos and photos from our set for a Behind-The-Scenes look into Lake Winfield!

Bio: Lake Winfield is Jared's debut narrative piece. Coming from the world of Music Video (Tyler Shamy, Whesli, Black Peter), this venture to create Lake Winfield comes from a desire to create a narrative for people of color that was made by people of color. He looks forward to finishing the episodes and really bringing the adventure of Shep and Tiller to its audience.

Risks and challenges
Our single biggest challenge is bringing realism and authenticity to our project for you as the viewer! We want you to believe that you are in the 19th century with these young boys on their quest. This sense of reality comes with a budget to cover things like production design, art design, wardrobe, hair and makeup, and locations. We are shooting in Los Angeles, and in later seasons, we hope to travel with the crew down to the actual south, but for now, we can just make the picture as authentic as possible! Together we can create something that we can all believe!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
