Progress Report 4: The Dragonflies at the End of this Post
(Apologies to Grover...)
Slightly over halfway through our fundraising period, and we’re now just under 20% funded. That’s a great start, but we obviously have a long way to go. We’ve added a few new rewards and adjusted the value of some of the higher-value rewards, so if you’re still on the fence about donating, please take a look.
Since our last progress report, we’ve had another furious week of work on all fronts. We’ll cover fire and lighting in another post, but first, let’s tsee the work we’ve been doing on some of the structural components.
One major effort has been the creation of the support apparatus for the the lotus blossom and the horizontal spars from which the dragonflies will hang. Here, you see the beginnings of both - the upper ring supports the petals, and the lower part supports the spars.
Fitting the petals to the ring requires some additional welding, and teamwork:
Our team is steadily growing, and we’re thrilled to put all those volunteers to good use. Here, you can see the wooden mobiles being painted:
We also have the beginning of a “garden of hearts” that will surround the installation. As you can tell, this is an all-ages venture!
And now, the dragonflies. Like the mobiles from which they hang, each of these are personal interpretations by individual creators:
Remember, we’ll be on 4th street in Loveland this Saturday - come visit and check us out!
