Please check updates section for info about Renegade Dc event.  We also added a sneak peak of another image from the project.  We are so excited and thankful for all the support from everyone but  we need more money. Every dollar counts and will help make Renegade Dc everything we have dreamed it to be.  Please help us make this a truly unforgettable event!  To really make this what we want it to be we need to be funded just over %150.

What is it?

Renegade DC is a conceptual photographic series that places models and performers amongst famous DC landmarks, monuments, and tourist attractions creating imaginative and daring scenarios that do not conform to the conventional expectations of our nation’s capital.
It is a blend of architecture, landscape, fashion and fantasy.

Why we do it?

Washington DC is a city defined by its world power dominance and conservative reputation.  It’s population is generally characterized by it’s political leaders, government staffers, and lobbyists. These images tap into the creative spirit and energy that also lives here and show a more playful view of a city that is most often considered to be too serious and predictable.

How we do it?

Shot guerrilla style, with no permission, surrounded by tourists, and local bystanders, some integrated into the scene, some just watching from the side.  As a full scale production each location was carefully scouted; models and performers were handpicked, wardrobe and props expertly selected and sometimes handmade, and skilled makeup artists and hairstylists were on set.  The weeks of preparation for each shoot usually culminated in an incredibly short photo session.  Sometimes thirty minutes, other times only a few before security shut it down.

Who is doing it?

Photographer Jodi King and hair stylist Tyler Lee Larish met on the set of a fashion editorial shoot just over two years ago.   After working together on a few shoots in DC, they decided to push their limits and create a new vision of the city they live in.  Tyler’s eccentric and often peculiar ideas, coupled with Jodi’s flair for creating style and beauty has produced a highly conceptual and unique body of work.  They brought in wardrobe stylist Tara Papanicolas, and makeup artist Seema Khanna, who have added their highly regarded talents to complete the core team. Assistant Sarah Mattis as well as many other creative individuals have also lent their skills wherever they could.
