About

We've decided to move our fundraising campaign to our own website at www.RobGreenfield.tv/TrashMe. Please go there to support our project or email TrashMeFilm@gmail.com to get in touch with us about supporting our project, sponsorship, or press coverage.

The average American creates 4.5 pounds of trash per day, so for 30 days, Rob Greenfield is going to live just like the average American. He'll eat, shop, and consume like the average American. The catch? He has to wear every piece of trash he creates. 4.5 pounds of trash per day will add up to 135 pounds of trash by day 30. That’s almost his body weight!

Most people never think twice about the trash they make. Once it’s in the garbage can it’s out of sight out of mind and although the 4.5 pounds of trash per day statistic is widely known, very few visuals exist to help people truly understand it. Through this project, Rob along with a team of filmmakers is out to change that for good. Trash Me will create an unforgettable and shocking visual of the trash that most of us create everyday that will stick in the minds of people and inspire them to drastically reduce the amount of trash they make.

By keeping this project highly entertaining and eye catching, Trash Me will reach both people who have never thought about their waste as well as environmentalists who want to do better.

We’re raising funds to produce a series of videos, hire a PR and marketing team and build a special trash suit. Because everyone on our team is dedicated to creating positive environmental and social change, we are able to produce this project at a very minimal cost. With your help, we can take this campaign from the streets of New York to TV and computer screens of millions of Americans and people around the world.

Throughout the 30 days, we will be covering the project live with a series of videos, Facebook live stream tutorials, blogs and media coverage. Rob will be a walking billboard of environmental awareness to educate and inspire people to make positive changes in their life to reduce their waste.

Based on the teams' prior success, we anticipate the campaign to reach tens of millions of people through social media and traditional media. The project already has commitments from national and international media outlets to cover the story. Two of Rob’s last videos have gotten over 12 million and 8 million views

THE TEAM

In order to create the best possible video content and capture viral moments Rob has teamed up with international award winning filmmakers.

Rob and everything he owns, 111 possessions
Rob and everything he owns, 111 possessions

Rob Greenfield is an adventurer, activist, humanitarian, and dude making a difference. He is dedicated to leading the way to a more sustainable and just world. He is the creator of The Food Waste Fiasco, a campaign that strives to end food waste and hunger. He has cycled across the USA twice on a bamboo bicycle and lived off the grid in a 50 square-foot tiny home in San Diego before auctioning it and raising enough money to build 10 tiny houses for people with no homes. He is currently traveling the USA in the service of others and owns just 111 possessions. He is the host of Free Ride on Discovery Channel and the author of Dude Making a Difference and donates 100% of his media income to grassroots nonprofits. He has been featured on thousands of media outlets around the world.

Chris Temple and Zach Ingrasci
Chris Temple and Zach Ingrasci

The series directors and producers are Chris Temple & Zach Ingrasci, founders of the award-winning production company, Living on One. From living in a tent in a Syrian refugee camp to working as a radish farmer and surviving on $1 a day in Guatemala, they are pioneering a new style of documentary filmmaking. Two of their feature films, Living on One Dollar and Salam Neighbor, were featured at top festivals including AFI Docs, CPH:DOX, and Sonoma Intl, and are trending as the top documentaries on Netflix. They were recognized alongside Bill Gates and Angelina Jolie as one of the top 100 Visionary Leaders of 2015 and have been called upon to share their expertise at TEDx, the United Nations, Variety, and CBS This Morning.

Gary Bencheghib
Gary Bencheghib

The series producer, cinematographer and editor is Gary Bencheghib, an environmental activist and documentarian that uses video and music as media weapons to bring sustainable change and create the biggest impact. From sailing down the Mississippi River on a plastic bottle boat to documenting the biggest environmental group in the history of Indonesia, his work has reached millions. He is currently working with New Orleans' city council to legislate plastic bags in Louisiana and serves as an Ocean Ambassador for the Ocean Recovery Alliance and Global Alert, one of the world’s first global environmental problem-solving platforms.

Risks and challenges

Wearing 135 pounds of trash will take a serious toll on Robs body since he has to carry it with him everywhere he goes. This could result in Rob becoming an apartment hermit. Luckily we have a forklift lined up to move Rob if he's not able to carry the weight. But don't worry we'll capture every minute on camera.

In all seriousness Rob and Living on One are highly experienced in this work and we are 100% confident that we will deliver everything that we promise in a timely manner.
