a. The act of manifesting.
b. The state of being manifested.
2. An indication of the existence, reality, or presence of something:
a. One of the forms in which someone or something, such as a person, a divine being, or an idea, is revealed.
b. The materialized form of a spirit.
Manifestation can be described as Kramer vs Kramer meets H.R Giger (designer of Alien) or Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf if written by H.P. Lovecraft...with just a touch of Clive Barker.
On the anniversary of the death of their six year old son, Bob pays a visit to his estranged wife Anna hoping to heal their still open emotional wounds.
Their meeting quickly disintegrates into a raging scream-fest as all their suppressed pain and angry pour out and both sink into even deeper rings of emotional hell.
All is energy...even emotion...and energy cannot be destroyed, only changed. Where does hate go once released? Where does heart-rending sorrow, the overwhelming sense of loss, the reptilian drive to exact bloody revenge go once these emotions leave the body? What form might they manifest?
Manifestation takes place in a world that exists at the edge of darkness; worlds of eternal twilight where deeply troubled individuals struggle to make sense of the horrors of their lives, seeking to catch a glimpse of the long rumored light at the end of the tunnel.
But what if what stands between them and the light is the darkness itself?
"....Others were drawn from darker and more furtively whispered cycles of subterranean legend—black, formless Tsathoggua, many-tentacled Cthulhu...and other rumoured blasphemies from forbidden books like the Necronomicon, (or) the Book of Eibon...."
Sultry Scream Queen Melantha Blackthorne will star in Manifestation...
When I think of Melantha I think...INTENSE...intensely talented, intensely sensual, AND intensely professional!
Melantha Blackthorne is an actress, director, and co-owner of Robomonkey Productions. She has over ten years experience in both independent and mainstream cinema.
Blackthorne is somewhat of a rare commodity in the world of cinema: a female director who's a dedicated purveyor of cinematic filth and fury. - Rue Morgue Magazine
In 1999 Melantha created the web character Countess Bathoria who
symbolized her love of the horror genre. Almost overnight the character
and the website gained legions of fans.
Literally bursting, often from tight fitting apparel, onto our horror soaked screens comes the most vicious, voluptuous and downright vile scream queen ever! - Andrew Skeates of Vengeance Magazine
Melantha's company, Robomonkey Productions, has produced three feature
films: Sinners and Saints, Order of One, and Countess Bathoria’s
Graveyard Picture Show. All three films premiered at Montreal’s
prestigious Fantasia Film Festival and have received critical acclaim
from numerous magazines and websites.
Melantha Blackthorne’s creativity, dark and twisted wit, and ravishing good looks should get her firmly seated in the halls of horror greatness. Not only is she a fine actor, but she’s quite the filmmaker as well. - Jeff Breckon of Horrorwatch
Blackthorne’s work as an actor includes starring in the films She Demons of the Black Sun, Prison of the Psychotic Damned, Fable; Teeth of Beasts, Aversion, and many more. Blackthorne’s indie film success has led to her mainstream exposure in Paul Anderson’s (Soldier, Resident Evil) Death Race 2000 starring Jason Statham (Crank, Transporter).
In one of many projects scheduled for production in 2013, Blackthorne is slated to reprise the classic role of Frankenstein’s Bride originally filmed by Universal Studios. You can learn more about Melantha on her website.
Legendary Scream Queen Debra Lamb will star in Manifestation...
Debra has appeared in over 35 films including The Killing Game, David Lynch's Wild at Heart, and the cult classic Beverly Hills Vamp. Debra has worked with such acclaimed directors as Kathryn Bigelow, Katt Shea, Paul Verhoeven, John Hughes and B-movie king Fred Olen Ray. She has appeared in numerous horror genre magazines such as Femme Fatales, Draculina, Focus, and Fangoria. Debra is a classically trained ballet dancer, a fire-eater and a professional Psychic and Medium. She also writes for "Tastes Of San Jose" and "Dark Beauty" Magazines.
Robert "Bob" Bozek will play the part of Bob the husband of Anna...
I've worked with Bob on a number of films including Red Scream Vampyres and Red Scream Nosferatu where I cast him as Renfield. Nobody plays characters teetering on the edge of sanity better than Bob. Some of the other film Bob has appeared in are Return to the Class of Nuke 'Em High, Model Hunger (directed by Debbie Rochon), and Snow Shark.
Joe Hollow will co-Produce Manifestation....
Joe has produced, directed and written over 15 films since 2009 including the critically acclaimed horror film "Absentia", the action film "Legend of the Red Reaper" with Tara Cardinal and "A Blood Story" with scream queen legend Linnea Quigley and cult horror icon Robert D'Zar.
Manifestation's creature effects will be designed by Pat Tantalo and Roy Knyrim...
I have had the pleasure of knowing Pat Tantalo and Roy Knyrim for over 30 years ever since they were doing special makeup fx in Pat's basement in Rochester, New York.
Roy runs SOTA FX the makeup effects shop perhaps best known to most as the effects shop featured in the SyFy Channel's Monster Man series.
The above and below images are examples of Roy's work...this is NOT the Manifestation.
Roy is a master special makeup FX expert. He has been in the businesses since the late 70s where he worked out of his basement in Rochester, New York. Roy has provided makeup effects for hundreds of film productions from James Cameron's The Abyss, Tim Burton's Ed Wood and Frank Oz's Indian in the Cupboard to such cult horror films such as Slugs, Toxic Avenger II and III and Roger Corman's Humanoids from the Deep.
Roy also does prop work for Disney's theme parks and recently directed music videos for Devo and Insane Clown Posse. I have known Roy personally for over 30 years. He is an amazingly talented man and a wonderful person.
Pat Tantalo has been in the business since 1988 when he worked on the cult horror film Slugs. Pat has provided makeup effects, design and fabrication work for Day of the Dead, Gremlins 2, Edward Scissorhands, Ace Venture: Pet Detective, Secretariat, The Three Stooges, the Coma mini-series and over 100 other feature films and television series.
Creature Concepts - the below are concept sketches for the creature.
Manifestation's Director of Photography will be Wolfgang Meyer...
Wolfgang has been working in film and television for nearly 10 years. Most recently he was Director of Photography on "Model Hunger" (directed by Debbie Rochon), Joe Hollow's "Disciples" (starring horror legends Tony Todd, Bill Moseley and Angus Scrimm), and is developing a film version of the popular Shadow Hunters comic book created and written by Jason Dube.
Wolfgang has produced 11 films, directed four and even acted and performed stunts. Wolfgang will bring a classic European art-film aesthetic to Manifestation making this a true work of cinematic art.
Parts of Manifestation will be shot at the Buffalo Central Terminal....Built in 1929 this towering edifice must be seen in the "flesh" to be truly appreciated. I have had a long standing relationship with the Central Terminal board of directors and shooting any film in this breath-taking building adds literally hundreds of thousands of dollars of set design value for pennies. The Central Terminal has been visited by the Ghost Hunters television series crew on a number of occasions as well as other paranormal investigation teams. Is the Buffalo Central Terminal haunted? Still inconclusive. Do strange things happen in the Buffalo Central Terminal (such as EMF devices going "crazy"?) - absolutely.
Visit the Buffalo Central Terminal here.
Words and Music...
Music is an essential element in any horror film. To that end the music and score for Manifestation will be composed by Frederic Mauerhofer, a French musician who's music combines the most modern of Euro-club beats with the grandeur of classical. I have had the privilege of working with Frederic on a number of projects and look forward to working with him again on Manifestation. You can learn more about Frederic here: http://www.facebook.com/frederic.mauerhofer
The Writer: Robert X Willis is a graduate of the State University of New York where he studied film under such cinematic Illuminati as Tony Conrad and Lawrence Brose. Robert is the owner of Razor Wire Alchemy, an online marketing company with clients from the United States, Canada, UK and Australia. He believes he was Sid Viscous in a past life. Robert has written numerous screenplays.
Robert says..."Manifestation is a thinking persons horror film. Rather than some hockey masked lunatic chasing after stereotypical teenagers played by actors who obviously have not been teens in a long time, it is a character driven exploration of the emotional and psychological aftermath of a devastating experience...the death of a child. Manifestation blurs and blends genres, it is a hallucination, a nightmare from which the characters cannot escape. And unable to escape they inflict their agony on each other.
Distribution - How and Where Can I see this Film?
For those of you who contribute more than $25 you will receive a special edition DVD as one of your rewards. All others (non-backers) can watch The Manifestation through a number of paid channels. These will include: Amazon VOD, iTunes, Hulu and Netflix Watch Instantly. We also plan on having the film offered on various Cable/Satellite/Telco VOD services. We may also submit to several film festivals including Fantasia International Film Festival.
Can we really make a viable feature film for $50,000?- Absolutely. I am a student of the Roger Corman school of filmmaking. Not a cent is wasted and every penny is squeezed till it screams...and bleeds! Creature comforts are few, hours are long. The focus is the movie and nothing else matters (cue Metallica?). My most recent film "Terminal Descent" was made for...well I can't tell you how much it was made for...but less than Steven Spielberg spends on about one minute of his films...way way less.
I have written, produced and directed a number of feature films including "Prison of the Psychotic Damned", "FrightWorld", "Red Scream Vampyres", "Red Scream Nosferatu", "Fable: Teeth of Beasts", 'Cleric" and "Terminal Descent: Curse of the Jiang Shi" (aka Scarlet Samurai). None of these films were made for more than $50,000. Most were made for far far less. Check out the trailers below...the production values speak for themselves....
About the Rewards DVD...this will not just be the same DVD as anyone can purchase once released, this will be a very SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION DVD with unique artwork completely different from whatever artwork is used on the DVD that is made available to the general public. So not only will you have a collector's item signed by the director (and in some cases, the star), you will also have something that no one outside the backers circle will have! Makes you feel pretty special now don't it?
Screenplay PDF...the pdf of the screenplay will be a copy of the copy of the screenplay the director carries around with him during the shoot (actually the script girl will be carrying the screenplay around for him but...never mind). So every line that gets scratched out or revised on set, every scene that gets removed or rewritten on set, all the little jots of notes to self and ideas that get penciled into the margins of the script, will be there for you to read. That's a pretty special something!
Special Production Company Credit...you know how at the beginning of some movies there are all those production company credits like..."Film Production Company One" in association with "Film Production Company Two" presents...(insert movie title here)? Well you get to create your own production company for this extra credit. So for example, maybe your girlfriend's name is Chloe...you might have your production company credit read something like "I Love Chloe Film Productions" or whatever. So not only do you get an Executive Producer credit in the film and on IMDB, you also get a production company credit in the film and on IMDB...think of it like a super special inside joke!

Risks and challenges
I am a "graduate" of the Roger Corman school of filmmaking - I understand what it takes to make a low budget horror film.
We have a great story....a fantastic location....a talented and dedicated cast...a seasoned special makeup fx talent...an experienced producer -director who has sharped his talents through years of low budget film making....in short we have all the elements essential to a successful low budget feature film production.
That said, the obvious risks are...the lead actress dies half-way through the shoot. But in that event, we can take a day off, rewrite the script around the existing material, and then create some story within a story using the existing material as a flashback and using a new actress who can play the original actresses sister. Or something like that. Point is...the film gets done unless some wayward asteroid hits the Central Terminal and kills us all outright. It could happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
