It is widely known that reading is one of the most effective ways to improve your vocabulary. It’s also commonly accepted that a picture is worth 1000 words. So flipping through this 60 to 100 page photo book should improve your vocabulary as much as reading 60,000 to 100,000 words, or a short novel. Now people who don’t like reading can still improve their vocabularies - without reading a word!
Last December I started a photo project that took me up and down the West coast in pursuit of subjects for this specific photo project. As the video explains, this process has become rushed as more than 20 of the photos are expected to appear in a major magazine very soon. With your help I can get back on the road and travel the far reaching areas of the country to complete the series. I encourage you to visit my website nolanconway.com to get a feeling for my photography. If you have any questions or special requests you can find my contact info at my website or message me via kickstarter.
Where the money goes
$4,000 will cover travel expenses for 3 weeks of travel by car to a number of far reaching areas of the USA. This will include food, accommodations, gas, and car rental. The remaining $1000 will go toward printing and delivery costs.
Any funds beyond the $5,000 will allow me to extend this trip, pursue additional projects, and cover the costs associated with applying for awards.
My work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times, Billboard Magazine, Time Out New York, and Own Magazine. When I’m not traveling, my home is in Brooklyn, NY.
Risks and challenges
Sun burn, traffic, and Argentine ants. Despite these risks and I'm still committed to undertaking this project.
I'm not worried about getting the images to complete this project. The subject matter is not too burdensome to come by, and access to the corporate grounds (mentioned in the video) requires no special permission. Taking the necessary images is largely a matter of persistance.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Maybe half a day. She's a pretty incredible person. I'm lucky to have her as a friend.
