Stretch Goal Unlocked!

First and foremost, thanks again for all the support! To see you rally behind this crazy adventure has left us speechless.

Stretch Goal Unlocked!
To celebrate the wild success of the campaign's launch, we would like to offer our first "Stretch Goal Reward"! All pledges $15 and over will receive download access to a selection of our time lapse DVDs. Our goal with the videos was to show our process from the blank page to a finished piece (all the hair pulling was done off camera). We'll be working out the specifics over the next several weeks but they should be playable on the iPad and other mobile devices! That's a whole fistfull of monsters for your viewing pleasure.

International Shipping
First off, we want to acknowledge that the cost of shipping internationally is expensive. We also wanted to share some specifics to help explain the costs. We worked with multiple carriers for over 3 weeks in search of the best solution to shipping these books around the world. Most importantly, we want the book to arrive safe and provide the best experience out there for all you supporters.

The unfortunate challenge is how weight is handled across the carriers. In general, weight is rounded UP. If a package hits 3.1, it's treated as 4 pounds. At that point the prices begin to rise dramatically. The book alone is in the 3.5 pound range before packing and potential prints and slip cases. Once the 5 pound bracket is hit, the prices rise again. We are also manufacturing a custom bumper box which is designed specifically for the book and provides protection yet adds some additional size to the package.

Aside from weight, each carrier applies surcharges to account for tax, duty and fuel. These vary daily and add more to the final cost. Considering we'll be shipping during the holidays, the rates go even higher.

Believe it or not, depending on the final destination, the costs we've listed do not cover all of the delivery charges. It was shocking to us too. But we'll promise two things throughout this campaign:

1. We're going to make the best book we can.
2. We will continue to look over the shipping and provide any savings available. We can't promise the rates will change, but we'll keep everyone posted if they do.

We greatly appreciate your involvement and feel free to ask us any questions you have on your mind. We'll do our best to respond as soon as we can. Thanks again everybody, we're extremely excited to see how great this project can become.

Please- Where's the Manage Pledge link for those who need to pay international shipping now?

    2. Creator Dan on August 3, 2012

No shipping charge for US? And it's coming from FedX? I pledged at the $35.

    3. Creator Matthew Del Degan on August 3, 2012

I forgot to add the shipping. How can I add it now (to Toronto Canada)?

    4. Creator CreatureBox on August 3, 2012

@headwinds The shipping map is at the bottom of the main campaign page. Let us know if you have any other questions, thanks!

    5. Creator headwinds on August 3, 2012

sorry I can't find the map - "International friends: please add shipping using the map below." - where below?! can you post a direct link to this pricing chart?

    6. Creator EntropyCoM on August 3, 2012

I am a bit diasppointed that shipping to France is 40 USD and to Germany (my country) is 60USD (!).
Anyways I will take it, but would appreciate any reduction in shipping costs.

Thanks guys. Ville, shipping is a tough challenge that we continue to look into. Our primary goal is to make sure the books arrive safely to provide the best experience possible for all the backers. We'll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Why shipping to Europa is so expensive? Usually I pay (in kickstarter, sent from US) ca 10 use extra, in Your case its 60 usd... So I pay Fedex almost double the sum I pay for you... There have been other projects in Kickstarter where delivery cost have been successfully lowered using alternative carrier. You should try it too. BR.

    9. Creator Tara Mckee on July 26, 2012

The shipping is understandable, so I wasn't really complaining when I realized I had to add it onto my pledge :p at least it's a safe shipping method, and usually quick too (from my previous experiences with Fedex anyways)
And I look forward to seeing more from this campaign too! It's great to see it doing so damn well! I'm still super excited about all this stuff! :D the videos will be a great bonus for us fans!

      You are my inspiration!

    11. Creator Josh Lokan on July 25, 2012

I love, love the final look of your painted renderings. What I would LOVE would be a way of finding out what you consider to be a good workflow in painting up line work.

    12. Creator Janette K. on July 25, 2012

And.. I ditto all that too. I am intrigued by the process and the how to but also love the finish product in a compiled art book.

    13. Creator Fabio Sevá on July 25, 2012

      Wondeful video!

I would like you to include a time-lapse video where you use markers, not digital.

    14. Creator Andrew Jones on July 25, 2012

I ditto the suggestion for more detailed tutorials. I'm trying to improve my digital painting skills, but 99% of the "tutorials" you find are simply speed paintings with no narrative. That doesn't help much. I'd gladly pay for something that walked me through an entire painting and not only told me how things were done, but WHY.

    15. Creator Raul Chavez on July 25, 2012

I would be interested in purchasing a tutorial (with audio) explaining your work process. Hey maybe that should be your next endeavor? Either downloadable or streaming video would be great.
I actually went to comic con hoping to find a new booklet from you guys and luckily Stuart Ng informed me about this kickstarter project. Can't wait to get my copy!

    16. Creator Adam Hunter Peck on July 25, 2012

Ditto! I'd love to know more about the tools, brush settings, and layer settings you're using as you work.

    17. Creator Brian Frisch on July 24, 2012

I would love it if you guys gave a more in depth look at your process. Some of the tools you use, example how do you fill all that color in only in the outlined areas at 3:16. That would be awesome. I am trying to switch over to digital sketching. It's hard at the moment because all i have is a intuos, no cintiq yet. Do you know of any cheaper alternatives to the cintiq that offer comparable performance?

Really looking forward to getting the book for inspiration. YOU GUYS ROCK!

    18. Creator George Fleites on July 24, 2012

I know you guys are using SketchBook Pro, what type of brush do you guys use for your line work?? I'm guessing it's custom? But if your at liberty to discuss the specifics I'm all eyes and ears!! Lol. Also, are you guys using the new 24HD Cintiq Touch? Awesome video guys!!!!! Can't wait for the amazing book!!!!

    19. Creator Lee Newman on July 24, 2012

Very excited about this book! Can't wait!
