Bonus Goal - $29,000
Upon reaching our stretch goal of $29,000, all of our backers will receive a plug and play lighting kit. Simply screw in your favorite LED or energy efficient bulb, and cast light upon your IKOnic creations!
What are IKOS toys?
Essentially, IKOS are modular spherical construction toys. Take two interlocking pieces and connect them together to build a spherical surface.
When you want to enhance your creation, you can snap pieces together vertically to create sculptures, desk organizers or anything you wish.
What can I create?
Bottom line: ANYTHING
The cool thing about IKOS is that one piece can be configured into endless design combinations. IKOS are made out of 100% recycled HDPE and are manufactured entirely in the US. This is more than a building toy; it’s a revolutionary way of thinking.
We are launching this design as a toy but we believe that there are other humanitarian applications such as emergency shelters and water storage. Spheres and domes are efficient geometric shapes when it comes to storage and shelter. This design is scalable which we know can ultimately be used for even greater purposes.
Please note: Each contribution will receive the highest reward for which it is eligible. Rewards are not cumulative.
To make this into the design tool we have dreamt it to be, we need your help. We need help to cover the costs of large-scale production injection mold and the purchase of the recycled material. We are committed to manufacturing IKOS in the USA with 100% locally sourced recycled HDPE, but that takes not only commitment but also funding.
Further, we reach out to you, the Kickstarter community, for ideas and suggestions to better our product and come up with the highest and best uses of the building block of the 21st century. This is your opportunity to get involved in the spread of the IKOS revolution.
Our team is comprised of high school students, two of whom are girls thinking about entering the field of engineering. We are dreamers and thinkers who bring varied points of view: creative, analytic and compassionate.
Our idea was born out of a unique pilot program, the Park City Center for Advanced Professional Studies (PCCAPS) which has given us the opportunity to step way outside the bounds of the classroom and explore the real world of engineering, business and finance. Led by an experienced industrial engineer, our team has taken a small school project and we hope to build it into something lasting and influential.

Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge will be making sure our injection molder in the US will maintain a consistent production schedule. Variations in the availability of recycled HDPE could delay final production.
We have an ambitious delivery goal and feel confident we will be able to ship by July 2014 given our relationship and proximity to the manufacturer. We do run the risk of getting behind schedule due to unforeseeable circumstances.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
