About this project:
In 2014 I did my first restoration of playing cards. It was the No.18 Triplicate Red and Blue decks. The triplicates are so unique and have always been one of my favorites. My latest project is from the same family and the same year. I am releasing another restoration of the original Triplicates this time I am restoring the Red and Blue Dragon Backs.
This was the first dragon back, the United States Playing Card Company still makes a version today.
Andrew Dougherty was granted a U.S. Patent for the Triplicate feature which was a miniature card placed in the top left and bottom right corners. It was a revolution in the way cards could be held and viewed. The decorative ace of spades and the wrapper for the first No.18 Triplicate deck showed a fanned hand of cards with the triplicate miniature indices viewable on each card.
The United States Playing card company has worked with us on many of our restorations. The tuck box, back design and ace of spades have been approved by the United States playing card company as the restored art work for the deck. A. Dougherty® is a registered trademark of The United Stated Playing Card Company.
It is so much fun to hear back from backers on how much they enjoy the cards that I have restored. It is definitely the most rewarding part of the process.
As always there will be a few versions, you'll find pictures and info on the decks below.
Happy backers comments from past restorations:
"Thank You Again for another set of card decks that make it possible for so many of us to have these in our collections. Without your incredible restoration efforts we wouldn't be able to own these in any form, and I never forget that detail. Once again Michael, Thank You for making something truly special every time!"
"Got all of my decks today! Wish I would have got more thanks!"
"Superb decks on all levels, congratulations to all involved in producing these cards, a great effort and work much appreciated."
"Received my decks (all three versions) and once again you have done an incredible job replicating these beauties. I've got your Mauger Quadruplicates and Dougherty Triplicates, and love them all. Looking forward to your next replication project. Thanks!"
