Update #5 - One More Stretch Goal Revealed

This really is amazing progress, we're all stunned and very pleased! We're going to add a stoat to the general wildlife, too, for some reason.

So far you guys have unlocked:

£45,000 - The Landowner UNLOCKED

At this amount we'll be expanding our NPC roster with “The Landowner.” This chap is an aberrant mechanical ultra-toff. He's a leader among hunters, and the nightmare gaze of his glowing monocle means near-certain death, and at the very least lots of peril. With The Landowner in play, the player is truly in trouble – his tracking skills and his riflemanship are peerless. Fear him.

£50,000 - Hunting! UNLOCKED

This stretch goal will allow us to include additional wildlife-slaying functionality. You will be able to hunt pheasants and rabbits and then cook them for sustenance. This will provide a complementary mode of survival for players aside from scavenging, as well as furnishing the world of Sir with more life. (And death.)  

And we're pretty close to:

£55,000 - The Castle biome.  

A completely new island type on which a ruined castle is procedurally generated across the entire island. This will provide the game with both a radically different terrain, and an atmospheric arena in which to be systematically hunted down and shot. (We're really excited about this one – more proc-gen makes Tom happy.)

Therefore we're adding: 

£60,000 - Hot Air Balloon Spotter Patrols

This will probably take a little bit of explaining. Basically, the robots will man a hot air balloon which will make passes over the islands. From there they'll be able to direct hunters on the ground, and take pot-shots at you if and when they spot you. This adds some verticality to think about, especially as balloons are silent most of the time. Keep your eyes on the skies! These balloon patrols might be slow moving, but they will provide platforms for the hunters to snipe and spot you over a large area at any one time, and as such should provide serious jeopardy.

We really want to include these, but they were just on the drawing board until now. Soon they could be a real addition. We're excited.

      Since it seems like there is going to be multiplier. Can there be a mode where you play as the robots and hunt down your friends? Also two things I have to know. Can you jump and will there be crafting? Also does you character get armor? Or the ability to dress up in robot clothes for stealth? Also is there going to be one of those annoying stamina meters that you have to constantly refill by eating?

      I'm loving the idea of the hot air balloon spotter patrols. Should provide for some great gaming moments. Will there be a possibility to board one of these aircraft yourself? Hijack one so to speak. That would be cool also. Another idea would be to enable the player to boobytrap docked balloons with either motion sensitive or timed detonators. This would give the player a chance to use a balloon as a trap or explode it strategically to make use of the wreckage in some way (block a path, crush an object, hit a switch, enable climbing access into an otherwise off limits area). I'm just thinking out loud here really. Nice work though, can't wait to play it. :-)

      I agree with Jarmo that these and future stretch goals should be more prominent on the main page, perhaps taking a cue from past projects and creating an image with a road map of where future funding is leading to in terms of stretch goals. Presentation is key! Other than that, glad to see these great ideas making it into the game :)

      You should feature the stretch goals prominently on the project front page, I think you'd get more pledges that way. Now the goals are buried in an update and how many potential new pledgers (or old ones maybe willing to increase their pledge) dig that deep? Currently you can take a look at the front page, conclude that the project is safely funded and continue on your merry way, unaware of the possibility of helping the game reach ever loftier heights.

      Just a quick question. I think I noticed it in the videos but you guys are having a lean function correct? And I love how this game is turning out. I hope you guys get all the stuff in the game that you want, and all of it sounds amazing. Can't wait to play it, full release and beta/alpha!

      The balloon idea is good but a steam-powered dirigible is even betterer! As long as the hunted is allowed to steal the airship (in any of its forms) so that he can make an excellent escape.

      Looking forward to the T-shirt, the board game and the beta testing!

      Must have balloons. So fun! You could have genned patterns of prevailing winds that Sir will need to work out to get here or there hijacking or at least know where the chase balloons will most likely go.

      Stoats are so very English and tweedy to my ear. Excellent choice!

      No, the way that works wouldn't be compatible with the other things we do in island gen and Ai.

      That's what we're hoping, but we've not yet nailed down world generation options.

      Certainly something we discussed, but it might be tricky to pull off.

      Any chance we could hijack a balloon? It'd be kinda fun to have to periodically land somewhere inconspicuous, then sneak to a nearby balloon launch site to get more lift gas and supplies or something.
