Note: We only plan on doing a single run of physical copies for Kickstarter backers. In other words, this is the ONLY time to get your hands on a physical copy of At the End of Days.
Animal Crossing is such a unique and beautiful game that tackles life in a pretty raw form. It's about slowing down, breathing in the scenery and enjoying yourself. It's about making your own goals. It's about change. It's about sunrise and sunset.
So as a love letter to the game, I've created a handful of hip-hop remixes to explore the sparse arrangements of Animal Crossing and I'd love for you to help Elie and I print physical copies of this album.
The album is titled "At the End of Days." It's about looking back. Nostalgia. Taking a deep breathe and relishing in your experiences past. Knowing that living life is good and fulfilling.
The album cover is below. It's the cliff spot at the far right of main street at night time. I find I often walk over there and just listen to the atmospheric sounds in the game. I don't do much personal reflection there, but I'd like to imagine the characters in the game do so.
Elie and I got an overwhelmingly positive response from "Shinshu In Bloom," our previous Kickstarter fan project and are stoked to rock this again with another game we love. We sincerely hope you'll help us here!
Here's a few tracks to give you an idea of what to expect on At the End of Days:
Songs are not final masters.
We have some awesome rewards for you guys!
Beyond a physical copy of the album, you can also get any Animal Crossing song of your choice remixed (or any video game track, really).
Furthermore, Elie is also going to be doing a limited amount of self-portraits in the style of an Animal Crossing Villager! If you ever wanted to see what you'd look like in the Animal Crossing world, now's your chance.
Here's an example (of me):
AND B-B-B-BONUS: Elie will also give you an in-game portrait that you can display in your Animal Crossing house. This will delivered through a QR code.
And if you're feeling ritzy like Tortimer, you can even work with us to make a whole new remix album that all other backers will receive.
Where Does the Funding Go?
The funds for this project go to:
- Professional Quality CD Duplication/Replication. I want to give you guys the best quality product possible -- no homebrew mishaps!
- Paying for Artwork. While Elie is humble enough to do work for free I'd rather feed him. Or buy him a Wii U game (zeldaaaaa).
- Creation and production of bonus secret sauce... as well as the various material required for the reward tiers (like the custom portraits by Elie)
- Shipping costs
Any extra funds will be put towards making each and every package more awesome as well as producing more CD's.
How Can You Help?
By backing us of course!
Moreover, it would be super awesome if you could share this project with a friend of yours who likes Animal Crossing.
Even if you don't want to back us, please tell one friend!
Furthermore, sharing on facebook/twitter/instagram with #AtTheEndofDays would be awesome. Or just post this Kickstarter link.
Who Are We?
We are the guys behind Shinshu In Bloom, a previously successful Kickstarter project for an Okami (video game) remix album. Click here to listen to and download the entire album here (fo' free)!
My name is Zac and my artist name is Zencha. I produce all kinds of music. I write about music production at www.zenchamusic.com and my accompanying YouTube/zenchamusic channel. Most of my music is at zencha.bandcamp.com.
I drink too much tea and I'm teaching myself how to make video games. One day I'll have a sweet Animal Crossing style game made... wait and see!
Elie is currently stuck digging himself out of a pitfall hole so I'll write this bit for him.
He's an awesome artist and you can find some of his hobby work over at http://jarofoj.tumblr.com/. He digs pixel art and is often shredding outside on a skateboard that he found on the side of the road.
#note -- digital download of "At the End of Days" will be available to everyone for free.
Risks and challenges
Risk is simply getting things out on time... as it is with any project. Elie and I now have experience with this process (from Shinshu in Bloom) and are much more comfortable handling this. Should be mostly bruise free!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
