I’m very excited to be back with my second kickstarter project and I want to introduce you to iNA.
iNA is an elegant storage solution to safely carry with you your small essential items wherever your adventures may take you.
I created these titanium containers to carry all kinds of compact sized EDC that we tend to forget or lose when we most need them, like microSD cards, emergency money, your meds, a sewing kit, personal hygiene products, even fluids like lip balm, oils or suncream, the list is endless...
They are made for travellers, adventurers, designers, photographers, engineers, architects, for titanium lovers, for you.
If you don’t find anything to store in it, don’t worry, the quality and human validation of each piece results in an industrial container of such perfection that it can be used as jewelry.
Take a look at all the rewards and choose yours.
Its predecessors, NARA & YOKO, which we launched here on kickstarter a few months back, have been well received by the community and many of you have given us great feedback and suggestions on how to improve them.
We took note of all your suggestions and made a lot of improvements to our existing family of containers. We gained a lot of experience after producing more than a thousand titanium pieces so we are ready to take our products to a higher level.
The addition of an attaching point to NARA and YOKO was by far the most requested feature.
We didn't want to take the easy route in this regard. Adding just an appendix with a through hole with a keychain and a split ring didn't feel right. We worked with a clear, simple and flawless design in mind. We wanted something more flexible, more versatile and easily resizable.
We have been using a high-tech braided cord called micro cord from Atwood Rope MFG for quite some time and it is awesome.
Using a cord also gives you the flexibility to adjust the loop the size you need. You can make the loop small enough to let a necklace fastener through or long enough to use the cord itself as a necklace.
It is very soft to the touch so it will not scratch your precious container and also it will not make chain rattling noises. It is only 1.18mm (3/64”) in diameter and it is surprisingly strong. It is available in a wide variety of colors, perfect when you want differentiate multiple iNAs or if you want to match colors with your outfit or your existing gear.
This design adds several benefits:
- Tangential and radial loads are removed.
- Friction is reduced considerably which makes the loop last longer.
- The capsule can spin freely without the cord getting tangled.
- It lets you appreciate the beauty of the container without disrupting its harmonious shape.
For its size and weight, the Micro cord is surprisingly strong. How strong?
The loop exits the cap axially from the inside.
Wait a minute! A cord from the inside?
Is iNA watertight? Yes, it is!
The cord exits the cap from a single hole and that is where the containers loses its watertightness. We love challenges and this offered a great opportunity to engineer something to solve that problem.
The iNA cap has a sophisticated precisely machined inner part that fits perfectly inside and prevents water and dust from getting inside, keeping all your small items safe.
Keeping the o-rings in good condition and replacing broken or worn out ones is essential to keep the containers watertight. It’s a good idea to always have spare ones, but better yet, it is best if you have them right where and when you need them. There is a cutout in the inner seal to store two included extra o-rings hidden inside the cap, isn’t that nice?
Micro Cord is available in many colours, and all rewards have an extra piece of it included.
Titanium has to be the coolest metal on earth.
If you haven’t experienced the feeling of holding it in your hands, just give it a try. You won’t see other metals the same way after owning your first titanium product.
Grade 5 titanium is used on those constructions that leave a mark in human history.
Let me highlight some of its benefits:
- It’s not much heavier than aluminum but it’s harder than most steels.
- It does not corrode.
- It does not stain.
- It does not smell.
- It is paramagnetic.
- It’s food safe.
- It’s non-toxic and non-reactive.
- It can be anodised.
We use Grade 5 Titanium Ti6Al4V to machine all of our products and we absolutely love working with it. Our Nakamura Tome turning center is hungry for more titanium.
Which size should I choose?
The iNA containers are available in four different sizes. The cap which is the female part is only available in 15mm (0.59") but you can find the male parts in 15mm , 25mm, 35mm and 45mm (0.59", 0.98", 1.38" and 1.77"), combining both parts, iNA is available in 30mm, 40mm, 50mm and 60mm (0.91", 1.30", 1.70" and 2.09"). Below you can find all the technical details of each one.
iNA containers are entirely manufactured in our workshop in Barcelona which means we have full control over the production process. We also have all the machining and finishing equipment in our workshop and we can make minor adjustments or modifications on the design with very little turnaround time.
Risks and challenges
Most of the suppliers will be on holiday on August and that means things can go slow during that month. We will not be taking holidays, we will be working very hard this summer on this project.
We will ship from Barcelona, to anywhere in the world.
We are ready.
