About this project
Persephone was about start her second year of college, when she was tragically killed in a hit and run. Luckily, her eccentric med-student roommate have found a way to "fix" her. She is now returned from the dead with only a few scars as proof it of the incident.
However, her unique situation allows her to find out her school campus is full of vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, satyrs, and every magical creature from legend. No one else can see their true nature. This makes her a curiosity to the whole new found community and a useful tool to the local monster hunter looking for proof.
[Super]Natural Attraction is a episodic digital comic with a dark sense of humor. It's inspired by a love of the paranormal and reverse-harem shojo manga (such as Ouran Host Club). Here's a bit of a preview.
This kickstarter is to fund the first 22 page chapter/story. The first chapter is written. It will need roughly 2 months for the art to be finished. If the kickstarter goes well or over funds, we will release more stories every other month. Each will be 22 pages. Each brought to you by Kel McDonald, Kara Leopard, and Whitney Cogar.
The writer Kel McDonald is responsible for several comics over the years. This includes her webcomics Sorcery 101, the graphic novel series Misfits of Avalon, running the Cautionary Fables and Fairy Tales Anthology series, and writing Buffy: The High School Years.
The artist Kara Leopard currently has her webcomic Mr.Hare & Mr.Bear and has drawn stories for anthologies and zines like They Have Issues and the Strange Zine. She loves cats, candy and has a morbid fascination with natural disasters.
The colorist Whitney Cogar is an illustrator and colorist from Savannah GA. She has worked on many BOOM! Studios titles including Giant Days, The Amazing World of Gumball, and the Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy crossover. Her other focus is an online shop, smashpansy.com, which offers nerdy products for people who are on the internet too much.
Since [Super]Natural Attraction is digital only, most of the money is going to paying Kara and Whitney for their time and the rest is going to kickstarter fees or promotion after the series launches. That will all roughly come to $5000. We made sure all our rewards are digital, so that we don't have to worry about shipping fees.
However, since this is a series each time we hit 5k, another chapter/story will be add ons for sale on the kickstarter.
$10,000 will fund chapter 2.
$15,000 will fund chapter 3.
$20,000 will fund chapter 4.
We have 10 chapters planned and agreed on.
All backers will get listed on a special thank you page in each chapter of [Super]Natural Attraction.
