Be creative in 2016 following every month words of wisdom of the Mr Cup creative manifesto letterpress calendar. It is a numbered limited edition.
The front cover of the Deluxe edition will be laser engraved on wood. Each cover will be engraved one by one !
The normal edition cover will be printed on white paper with 2 colors.
The calendar will be composed of 13 20x14 cm cards printed on 700g colorplan papers : 6 light colors papers with black printing / 6 dark colors papers with light printing.
The front cover has been designed by Kevin Cantrell. I happy very pleased to collaborate with him as his very detailed typographic style is perfect for letterpress printing.
For every edition, I ask graphic designer and typographer to create unique font work. This year edition will feature unique designs by Matt Stevens , Jef Millotte, Scott Biersack, Tom Ludd , Renaud Orange, Tomasz Biernat, Joseph Alessio, Salih Kucukaga and Eric Kass.
They are currently working on the design and they will be shown as soon as possible during the campaign ! Here comes the first designs by Scott Biersack, Tom Ludd, Tomasz Biernat and Eric Kass.

GOALS / STEPS
Kickstarter adds together reward production costs with shipping costs. Therefore, although we need :
Paper and Printing : ±7000 € Post costs and order fulfillment : ±1000 € Designers : 2000 € 5% Kickstarter fee : ±500 €
This raises our funding goal to a total 10,500€ (± USD$11,700).
Now the third goal is reached, here come the next steps to unlock ! If we reach 18 000€ we can print the stander box set.
NORMAL = 39€ / DELUXE = 49€
FRANCE = 7€ / EUROPE = 12€ / WORLD = 15€
If you want, "compose" your order just and pledge by calculating the price!
Example : if you want 2 NORMAL + 1 DELUXE, just pledge the DELUXE edition for 39+39+49 >> 127€ + your country post costs, then send a message to let us know. We would finalize your order at the end.
LETTERPRESS PRINTING & STUDIO PRESSION
The calendar is printed in France, at Studio Pression. Letterpress printing has the ability to create relief into paper by adding tons of pressure while printing. It’s called deep impression, or debossing. And it’s done at the same time, printing AND debossing, always one color at a time. The thicker the paper, the deeper the impression. For a crisper effect, we use much harder magnesium plates instead of photopolymer.
Here come some pictures of last year printing.
STORY & PAST EDITION
The Mr Cup Letterpress calendar is a project started in 2010 when I discover letterpress printing. I want to do a project and the calendar seems the best idea, as it is useful and decorative at the same time. But I am not a printer, I am a graphic designer. The 2 first editions (2011 & 2012) were printed in Poland. The 2014 edition was done with Spanish printer El calotipo of Zaragoza.
The 2015 edition goes in a different direction : instead of designing the 12 months and front cover myself, I ask other designers to work with me. I also work with a french printer this time, Studio pression, a passionate man who went to letterpress printing... after he discovers the first edition of my calendar !
For every issue, I try to "play" with letterpress process : paper, colors, inks. For the 2015 edition, we do a glow in the dark ink for the 100 copies. In 2016 we do a cooper printing on black paper with copper edges.
copperrinting will start as soon as the project is funded to be sure everything is ready early December and send before December 10th to arrive in time for the Christmas season.
Risks and challenges
The main challenge is to reach to goal over a limited time period. The past edition sold in 3 months, from early November to the end of January. I hope the highlight of Kickstarter will make to costs funding possible in a month only.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
