KID NASH: The Pilot Issue
Brett Thompson sets out to establish a profitable alternative to independent comics publishing. Don't you want to know how?
High school student Sam Jackson moves to Nashville with his parents and older brother. Shortly after arriving in Nashville, Sam and his brother Henry discover that Sam has gained amazing abilities. However, Sam can only use his new-found gifts in Nashville.
The Pilot Issue establishes our characters and sets up the premise for the ongoing story arch. The first 8 pages of art were produced by Steven Sanchez. Tim Kane (animation and comics artist) will be picking up the art chores where Steven finished.
What this project is trying to accomplish for independent comic creators:
Eon's publishing model is not to compete with national comics, but rather to bring heroes and original stories into a reader's local environment. The popularity of Kid Nash will come from local fans connecting with the characters through a common landscape. Also the digital distribution platform will allow for nationwide readers (probably you) to also enjoy the original storytelling, even if they aren't familiar with Nashville. In the industry of free ongoing regional publications, nothing like this exists (at least not that I've been able to discover). Imagine a full color, ongoing, free, printed comic book with original stories set in your local community.
Eon Comics Group, the publisher behind Kid Nash is not interested in competing with other comic books. The production and distribution budget for Kid Nash is designed to be advertiser-driven. However, we need your help to finish producing the pilot issue to get it in the hands of our future supporters.
Help us prove that this business model can be successful and thrive. Independent comic creators need alternative & profitable publishing models that open up new opportunities and allow them to make a living from their craft.
