Risks and challenges
Self-Publishing - There is so much to learn. I had to start my own publishing business (Rasselas Publishing) and I'm raising money to buy ISBNs for the ebook, paperback, and audiobook (one ISBN each). I will be purchasing my ISBNs from isbn.org (the official US ISBN supplier).
Shipping - I need to design the paperbacks so they can fit inside USPS priority mail boxes. Shipping costs are a major factor when mailing books from Alaska.
Finding an Editor, Agent, Publisher - The fledgling writer's Catch-22: Editors/Agents/Publishers only want to work with successful published authors...
Permissions - I make use of the poem "Eloisa to Abelard" by Alexander Pope in this novel. I had to get in touch with the company that owns the rights and make sure my permissions were printed correctly (and legally).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
